Title: staffing
Post by: billozz on November 30, 2004, 07:37:58 pm
some help with staff please guys....how long do you think it should take someone who has never cleaned windows...to get to a point where they are making money for you.
we have taken on a guy and we are paying him £5 p/h   but we are not sure how long it should be before he starts to make us money.
should we increase his money at this point, if so by how much

Best way is to tell him that when his speed and quality of work improve, so will his wages. It gives him something to aim for as well.

When you get a good day which you feel he contributed to, you could give him an extra tenner/twenty and tell him to keep up the good work. This might be better than just increasing his wages permanently as he'll soon take the extra money for granted.

thank for the replies guys. but at the moment i am paying someone for nothing, what i mean by that is he isnt contributing so he is actually taking some of my money, ( he has only beeen with us for 2 days ) and i knew that was going to be the case, but i am wondering how long it should be before he starts to contribute
thanks again
