Title: ANKALAD- ladder safety info pls
Post by: martin19842 on November 18, 2004, 06:14:09 pm
hi all,

ankalad- ladder safey device

does anybody have any experiences either good or bad,  regarding the above LSD.  or does anybody own one, again either good or bad.

got taken off ladder by HSE on building site yesterday, just waiting for the developer to come back with a definitive response.

thing is though, go two miles down the road, another site, no problems.

therefore thinking about ankalad, we do other high level operations not involving window cleaning, and would be beneficial for that.

regards

martin

I use a laddermate stabiliser and it is absolutely fantastic, it eradicates outwards slip stops ladder bounce and also makes the top of the ladder more stable.   It cost about £80 and is really well made.

Martin,
i got a set of ankalad fitted to my open top they seem a bit fiddly at first but once you get the nack they're ok, also made my own 'ladder stopper' sheet of 12mm ply, strip of 2x1 screwed to it half way down and a sheet of rubber fixed (no more nails) to the bottom, then got an extending 'A' frame, even better, if you need to go up a ladder its got to be an 'A' frame. Then i got a WFP and wondered why i'd messed around for so long.
