Hello Jamie
I'm afraid that no matter where you get your fibre-glass pole from, it will be almost exactly the same weight as your present fibre-glass one.
The "Universal" pole is the fibre glass pole that all pole suppliers sell, made by a company called Exel in Finland. The only difference between them is the head assembly, and that accounts for just a small proportion of the pole's weight.
Some people are shocked that all pole suppliers actually sell the same pole, but when you consider that the machinery required to manufacture composite tubes from scratch costs several million pounds, really its not that surprising that they are bought in and customised by the various pole suppliers. (The exception to this is the "ergolite" pole from Ionic which is manufactured to ionic's unique specification.)
18Ft carbon fibre poles are slightly lighter than their fibre-glass equivalents, but also more expensive. If you want lighter still you'll need to go with Aluminium (Tucker or Omnipole, though watch the flexibility on Tucker's) or Ergolite but be warned, ergolite are not cheap.

Ionic`s do a 12,18 and 24 foot `Residentail` pole thats good value I recon all round.
If your only going to 18 feet why not do what a lot of us do and thats make your own
up out of an Ettore or Unger aluminium tube sections. An angle adaptor can be altered
and `fashioned` to nearly any depth of ledge your likely to encounter.`Salmon` make of
brush head, also Winspray and Ionic`s own `residential` brush get`s ya going in the right
direction.

We have a 40' pole which is a pain to use when not fully extended, so I went out and bought a 18' alloy pole with a 10" brush from Cleantech - 93.80 + vat
It's ideal, light enough to use, everyone loves it
