Hi Gents
I cleaned some windows today in an empty property (2 bed FFF)
Inside and out.
Front of property had 4 bay windows facing the sea, (cleaned inside only)
Back of property had kitchen, side window and back bedroom had caked on pigeon crap. The job took me 2 hours...
How much would you charge for this?

2hrs, got to be £60 of anyones money to scrape pigeon s**t.

not less then 50

2 hours seems an awfully long time to clean a 2 bedroom house, if I charged 50 or 60 quid I would give any customers a heart attack around here :o
No that 50 notes for 2 hours work is unreasonable, more that £50 to clean a 2 bed house is way over the top.
Just how many windows are there exactly?
What size are the windows?
Pigeon crap is a pain, but shouldn't take you too long if only on the one window.
Were they all georgian windows?
A normal clean of an average two bed house (not georgian) should take you no more than 15 minutes, add an extra 5 minutes for the pigeon encrusted one, and ten minutes more if it was really dirty and not been cleaned for years.
If the property is empty, then the inside should be a piece of cake.
If it was an initial clean after builders or decorators then you should trebble your standard price for the clean.
In the area I live, for an average 2 bed house I would charge no more than £8.00 for the outside and consider it easy money, the inside would be a tenner more. 18 quid for 30 minutes work I can live with.
If the windows are georgian, or access is difficult, or it is a pig pen clean then the price climbs steeply. But ultimately you can only really expect to charge so much to clean a small property.

Ian

Martin, out of interest, what did you charge?
-
I charged £80 for a house like that last week my thinking is like it or lump it they usually like it. Remember there is a national shortage of window cleaners folks
-
Hi
thanks for that guys.
I charged £55.
It is a regency property with huge sash windows x 5
kitchen window
side hallway
Back bedroom
Back bedroom and side hall crusted in pigeon crap (years)
Only access for hallway outside was the fire escape which was an inch thick in the said pigeon crap. Needed step ladder for inside and outside front balcony window.
Not normally a window cleaner.

Ahh, mitigating circumstances then 8)
Not a straight forward clean and not a small property, understandable why it took you a long time, and equally fair in that situation to charge as you did.

Hi
Thanks for all your responses gents, it really is greatly received.
As another note the side window was a few inches below fire escape, i squatted but no way was i going any lower. Had to leave some crud on it. Would the crap etch into the window as i scrubbed it a few times but it wasn't moving?
