Try again mate, but go to one of the big banks, as they have always catered for business accounts, as opposed to a Building Society, try Nat West, and good luck

hi there wayne
abbey national offer a free business bank account as long as you dont pay in more than 20 cheques per month.
barclays offer free banking for 18 months, we are with them and its a good service.
the other thing would be to go along to the current provider of your personal bank account.

I have been with the Nat West for twenty years so I would need a goopd reason not to bank with them.
Well Lloyds gave me a good reason. Excellent business banking benefits with loads of info for new businesses. They also provide a business manager who concentrates on your business and gives excellent advice and guidance.
Hope you get it sorted

do you have crap credit history? if so, that's why you cant get one. and you wont be able to untill you build up your credit again. They dont just give a business account neely willy, they check your personal history.
And it dosent matter who you go with to open.
Ohhh! you dont need to have a business account to operate like a soo called pro window cleaner! You can just get a extra personal account and pay only your wages into it. For the rest of the money just write down what goes where and keep reciepts and little bits and bobs like that. The tax man will be ok with that.

Hi Andy is quite right with the personal account part, but even with crap credit history you will be able to open an account with Nat west.
Good luck

Credit history could be a reason but not neccessarily so. After a year off work following a bad accident 5 years ago, I amassed quite a few debts and was 'blacklisted'. But just over 2 years ago I was given a business account by NatWest, All my debts are paid off now, and I still have a poor credit history, but it aint the end of the world!
