Title: URGENT - TROLLEY REQUIRED
Post by: Iain_Ryan on August 31, 2004, 02:06:50 am
I used to run my own Commercial Window & Signage cleaning company, sold this a few years ago to go into other things. I lost my driving licence 18 months ago and still have 2 years to go. I have recently started doing a bit of residential window cleaning and the work is starting to come in thick and fast. Thing is I have to carry the ladder and kit and its just nit practical. Does anyone have any ideas regarding trolleys, either for sale or in building one so at least I can push the ladder and kit as opposed to carrying it???

Hi Ian,

Theres loads out there too many to list, however Ionic systems do a electric power trolley which would suit you more.

Hi Iain

Do you mean a trolley system to use with a Water-fed pole, or a trolley on which to carry conventional window cleaning equipment?

Thanks Phil

I'm after a trolley to carry my bucket, rags etc and ladder on top. Have lots of work coming in, but no driving licence at present so need to walk. Im not very practical with DIY etc so to build one would take me a lifetime. Anywhere that sells them etc?

When i was a young lad i remember there used to be a window cleaner who used a pushbike with a sidecar.

Don't know if you can get a sidecar anywhere that would take a ladder.
I expect you will need to make your own.

But that is what you need

just put some removeable wheels on the bottom of the ladder and pull it to your jobs it might work  :-/

Iain

The last reply from Stephen would seem to be your best bet. In the early Sixties, My Dad and his brother both pulled their ladders behind their push bikes, one end strapped under the saddle, and a small set of wheels attached to the other end, buckets etc resting between the rungs.

I bet the police would have a thing or two to say about this nowadays though

They probably would, Iain could always quote old Norman Tebbit! 'I've got on me bike!' or even put an L plate on the ladder?  :)

Iain,
Have a look at this thread started by Lewis Doubtfire . . .

It sounds like this could be useful to you, but I'm not too sure where your ladders will go. Maybe upright on the frame, but watch out for low bridges  ;)
How about getting a second trolley - and fasten one at each end of the ladder - to make an extended trolley.

shinebrite,

I'd be grateful if you would delete, or re-word, your post. And also remind you not to shout late at night.

Thanks in advance.

Now Karl,

As a mod elsewhere, you know you shouldn't encourage the children when they've had too many sweeties with high e-numbers. Adrian's been telling someone to load a petrol power washer with water on another board . . .

Oh dear, tears before bedtime, I think.

Talking of bedtime - night night, I'm off.
