Are there any other WFPers apart from myself & Sarah? How often to you go out & do you have another job?
Lesa. I am moving this thread to the w/c section as you will get a better response there. :) Sarah
-
Lesa,
I work 3 days per week in Sales & Marketing and approx 4 days per months now with hubby.
Like you, my 'other'job pays the bills during the bad weather months - if not it gets us another holiday. LOL ;D
Im sure the guys will tell you about the number of wifes who work with them as not many actually post here.
Nice to see you back.
Sarah

Some guys come up to my lady wife and say " Hmm a lady window cleaner. "
To which she replies " What do you think we have been doing for the last 200 years " :)
-
My daughter can do windows Trad but when I get round to WFP she will breeze that.
And when i say trad i pay her with coal
;-)
-
My wife comes out with me from time to time. Is fine with trad methods and wfp on ground floor but finds it diificult doing any higher levels.

Me too. I think I will have to get her a superlight pole. She prefers WFP for the bottoms, so I fixed her a backpack on a shopping trolley frame. Dai
-
Dear me boys! Why are you asking your misses to do high level windows :o
You want stringin up by your you know whats :'(
-
I have a video fitted to my pole so she can see in the bedrooms ;D
-
my better half gave up her job to come and work with me and we have never looked back, she works as hard as me but wont get up a ladder so she does ground floor traditional and first floor wfp.

I wish I could persuade Mrs K to work with me. I do out and she can do in. But NO she won't hear of it....prefers to be a cashier in our local Costcutter at £6 per hour and works till 9pm some evening :-[

Yup - Mrs Malc's like that - mind you she's very honest - she says it's bad enough sharing a bed with me let alone working with me! ;D
-
My g/f helped me out whilst I started...truth is that we both have been learning together...she was doing the bottoms and I was doing the tops....she is now going back to social work...and as she puts it, she might as well get paid to work with loonies...
She was very good....it's a pity that she is going back to proper work...I enjoyed working with her however she says that it was not much fun working with me !!!
-
I work with Wor Lass four days per week.
She's a proper pain in the ass too!
But it's worth putting up with when she's tradding Georgian windows. ;D
She always looks this happy while she's working.

I know a local lad who's wife does a day a week with him, at the start she only managed an hour or so before she was too tired to work on - that was about a year ago - last week he was in bed with the flu - she took the van, his round book and done over £100 before she came back home!! Ok so it was all wfp and mostly bungalows but I thought that was remarkable, especially as she's only about 7stone.

JM,
It's all about training! You've got to train 'em up properly.
The best thing I've done is go WFP for 'tops only'. Okay WFP 100% is pretty quick, but not as quick as not doing the ground floor at all.
Wor Lass does the ground floor! I just bugger off and crack on with the 1st floor stuff.
For example, when we do terraced houses, such as we did today, I'm often five or six houses ahead of her. It's currently 'mad week', so I prefer to keep my distance from her anyway.
She knocks and collects the cash, or leaves a 'chit', when she's cleaned the ground floor.
It's great. We hardly see each other in some areas.

Thos who have their missus or girlfriends working with them should count themselves fortunate as most of us, (myself included) DON'T unfortunately! Ain't life a beach!
-
Blimey Tosh, how big is that bottle your good lady is carrying.
I thought it was a backpack at first!
I carry a bottle of solution with me but only an old Fairy bottle. Anything more is too heavy for me :-[.
Gerry.

I can read her thoughts Tosh, " Living & working with him, what did i do so wrong in my privious life?" ;D
We tryed working together & she did my head in, then the moaning, i work on my own. ;D

Tosh, you have it sussed big lad! Now if only you could get worLass to do the tops as well as the bottoms you'd be flying!!
Means you can lie on your scratcher all day!!
Genius.

My wife also quit her job to come work w/ me full time. It just made more sense than hiring someone else. Best thing that ever happened to me!

Having the wife on the job also helps because she looks at the windows like a customer. She really is my quality control. ;)

dave whats your mrs award she is holding
I think it's the 'mop snatch' where you've got the lift the heaviest mop (dry) above your head and hold it there for three seconds.
Or it could the the fastest female window cleaner in the World.
Having met Debs, (Dave's Missis), I'd plump for the second option.
-
'mop snatch' ;D ;D ;D
tosh ,you have such a way with words
lol mike
-
I only take the boss with me, so that I don't have to kiss her goodbye in the mornings ;D
-

I work with my other half :)
We are trad at the mo (i do the bottoms). We are going wfp too over next few weeks.
I find that the customers love it. Feels better knowing there's loads of women out there at it ;) I've never seen another female doing windows in our area (south staffs) or anywhere else tbh lol
It was never an intention to do it, i just went out with him 1 day, and have never looked back lol. Love working outdoors and love the banter :)
-

Hi Claire, we are a husband and wife team (trad and wfp) - I love it too. Having a lady on the team definitely helps getting customers. Whereabouts are you in South Staffs?

Hello A&J Owen :)
We are based in Perton. Where are you based?
I agree with the fact that it helps with getting customers

What do you chat about in the evenings? How was your day darling? Oh I've been with you all day! I like a bit of independence (space) so it wouldn't work for me but If it works for you then good luck to ya!

Can get a bit like that. On the positive side, when you've had a nightmare customer you've always got someone to moan at!
-
A&J Owen , you're not far from us at all :)
Are you on fb? I'll have a look for you & add you or like your page (if i can find you)

When little one goes fulltime school in September she is gonna work with me when I am local , so probably 6 days a month. I'm happy for the company and help

My Missis has been doing it for years.
I keep on suggesting that she goes and finds a 'proper job', but the terms and conditions are just to good for her working with me.
She's got me over a barrel.
With all these new-fangled lightweight poles, there's no reason why women can't do this job; and as has been previously noted, customers like it. Women are generally non-threatening, unlike some of the shaven-headed and heavily tattooed Neanderthals that you often see lugging ladders about; scraping their knuckles along the ground with their free hand.
When we're approached for a quote, people generally approach Wor Lass for some reason.

A) They wonder if you speak English intelligibly?
B) She's got front teeth?
C) They can understand her accent?
;D

My wife's been working with me for the last 5 years. She makes a huge difference to our work. Gets on well with custies and is very exact when working. She does downs, I do ups.
