most charge VAT on delivery :(

If a company is VAT registered then it must charge VAT on its goods and services unless they are VAT exempt goods such as books and childrens clothing.

VAT on delivery is quite normal.
You might not notice it usually, as most times its all on the same invoice with the VAT calculated at the end.
One thing to watch out for - once some company tried to charge me VAT on INSURANCE!!
(Insurance is specifically exempt from VAT)

Postage is a bit of an exception. Although anyone who is vat registered must charge vat on postage, there is actually no VAT on stamps when you buy them from the Post Office!

If in doudt register yourself with vat then you can claim it all back
