Title: Electric or manual reels for employees

I have just taken on my first employee I have my electric reel and one manual reel but I’m not sure what to do for the best

Get a pure freedom stacked reel or buy another electric reel?

My issue with giving a  electric reel to an employee is all the parts the can and do go wrong

I have 2 electric reels and decided to stack them. Never again, too top heavy. Refitted them on plywood which is raised 200mm off the van floor. Perfect for me as the height is great for reeling on and off. I have one underfloor hose rollers but don't really need to use it unless cleaning a conny roof.

Use the manual reel until such times your happy how the employee treats the equipment

We use electric reels, not much can go wrong with them. We've had some of ours for 6 yrs, still going strong

The only issue we've had is the chain slipping off and needing the tension adjusting

Any fault with the reel, they can attach the handle until the end of the day, but that's happened twice in 6 yrs.

One issue is if you let them freeze up in winter, the rotary joint could get damaged and can be expensive to replace, but I replace them with a cheap standard joint

With the price of electric reels now i would say manual.

I remember the pf reel being £450, its now almost a grand! sod that for an employee.

I’ve got manual over here, at the very least it’s good exercise for the f***ed shoulder.

I investigated to see how much PureFreedom would charge to ship one. Shipping was £400.00.

Cox and Hannay reels are manufactured in the States. They are both high quality reels and do an electric version.

I know there does seem to be a little animosity between USA and Canada though.
