Title: Reported a customer today....
Post by: dazmond on December 17, 2024, 05:03:51 pm
Turned up to a customers house this morning and I couldn't believe the state of her dog! I've never seen the dog in years and it's lost half its fur with red, scaley skin and it's trying to scratch it's belly all the time. ::)roll

I told her the dog needs to see a vet ASAP and she just dismissed it and then slams the door in my face!

Dumped and reported to the RSPCA!

Neighbours say they've also not seen the dog in years so she doesn't even walk it!

I thought I'd seen everything in this job over the last 31 years but this has shocked me and made me angry that she would let her dog get in such a state.

She point blank refuses to go to the vets and said the dog was fine. Her daughter is a dogwalker too(she doesn't live at home anymore)....

The dog just looks like one of the neglected dogs you see on the charity adverts....☹️😡

Well done Dazmond. I remember seeing one of my customers' dogs in its crate in full sun a couple of years back. The customer was out so I phoned them to let them know my concerns. They came home to close the curtains.

Found a loose dog running about on a country lane. I caught it but no one could get passed my van while I phoned the number on its tag. Not even a thank you.

One of my old neighbours has a big dog. It's a 2 bedroom house with 2 adults and 2 kids living in it lived in it. They've lived there about 7 years. The dog has passed over the front doorstep once that I can remember and that was when they took it for a walk when they had visitors. I should report them really.

I remember seeing the dog a few years ago and it had a bad eye infection but still had all its fur...white pus oozing from her eyes and I said then 'have you been to the vets?'and she got all defensive and said vets were a waste of time and a rip off anyway so no she didn't need to go....

She had the money to spend £2k on a hardwood kitchen window though a while ago....absolutely unbelievable!😡

I hate dogs, I've dumped loads of customers because they've got a big horrible dog lurking in the back garden. I even dumped one last week because next door has 2 big things that look absolutely savage and they have half their bodies over the back fence when I'm cleaning. The little yappy ones are almost as bad.

That said, there no excuse to neglect them like that. If you don't want it get rid of it but don't torture it.

Same, can’t stand the things. Have also juts dumped a long standing customer who’s brought home a mature Alsation and the horrid thing was the window showing its teeth, no thanks.

It's not so bad when you can see in the back garden but those houses where its like a side ginnel and you know they have a horrible dog and it's pot luck whether or not it's out lol. I see people walking them and picking up their muck and I just think why would you want a malting sh#t machine running about your house with its mucky paws.  Not to mention vet bills I don't get it.

There's a couple on my run who keep there lab outside in a shelter and never let it in the house, even in the cold last week when I was there the dog heard me and started howling a bit because it knows I have a treat for it. Always give it a treat and spend 5 mins petting him.

They recently bought a motor home so they go away quite alot and the poor thing goes to the kennels. It's an older dog and I really felt sorry for it when I seen it out in the cold last week.  I was close to asking them, since there away alot now doing things, maybe I could take there dog if they felt they didn't have time for him anymore, they do give him a walk etc, he is looked after, but the only interaction he gets with them is when it's walk time. The rest of the time he's in the kennel outside on his own.  He loves attention too.  I don't know if they would take it the wrong way if I approached the subject, the dog deserves better than that.

I currently pay £235 every month on meds that my dog needs,  that's for the rest of his life too.  Truthfully, I'd pay triple that if I had too, I'd go without things if it came down to it.  Apart from immediate family, I love that dog more than anyone else.

My mate actually said to me last year, your dog and a child is hanging over a cliff and you can only pick one of them up, who you saving, I said i wouldn't even have to think about it. My dogs getting picked up 10 times out of 10. Unless it's between the dog and my immediate family, thrn the dogs getting picked everyday.

They don't get mucky either, if there dirty after a walk you clean them before they go in the house, I have a mud daddy, it's a thing to clean the dog easier if there dirty before they go into the house after a walk, if he's a bit wet I have a drying towel to put on him etc.

I love dogs, think they’re great. We’ll get one when the kids are a bit older.

However, and it’s a big however, the thought of you allowing a child to die over your dog is morally reprehensible.

If I’m seeing a 3 year old kid hanging over a cliff, with my Dog in the same position, the kid is being saved, 100% of the time. There is absolutely no way I’m allowing someone’s child to die. No way.

I clean all the neighbours around this ex customers house and I've told them all including some proper dog lovers so it won't get left.

She's never looked after that dog since she got it and point blank refuses to take the poor thing to the vet....☹️

Come back and answer that question agger you have had your dog a few years. It might surprise you what you would do in that situation too.

I would like to think i would put myself in danger to save a child. Id probably save a dog also if it was safe to do so but its an animal at the end of the day. I'd boot it off the cliff to save a child without hesitation.

Many years ago my wife took the pole and hose around the back of a house only to see the customer drowning a Hamster in a bucket of water.

She asked the women what she was doing and she replied that she hated the thing and was doing it whilst her son was at school,
needless to say we did not clean her windows as we packed up and my wife informed the RSPCA

we never did find out what happened as we never returned to the house as we are both love animals, wildlife and nature.

Most annoying thing for me is when the dog is in the garden and the owner says can you close the gate so the dog doesn't go out. Just take it in for 15 mins! When I say I cant close the gate because of the reel hose they cop the hump. I've also been bitten by a boxer before. It wasn't too bad so I didn't kick up a stink. I dont even think the customer apologised. Lost the customer in the end, I think on price.
