Just looking at my round and i should be fully up to date when i finish on the 20th for 2 weeks off...
Only problem is how my 8 weeklys have bunched up i will then have 255 jobs due first week back on the 6th...
Tempted to pull some forward if i get chance, anyone else do this or just be weeks behind when go back ? if the weather is bad in Jan it could be March by the time i get back on top of it.
Still nice problem to have i guess

Well due to the way Xmas falls this year I'm going to work the Monday before and the Thursday after New Year.
9 days is as much as I am prepared to inflict on Mrs. Gold this year.
;D
Also some 8 weekly stuff might get put to 9 weekly if needed just this time.
Also also ... 2025 is the year to reduce my round down to 2k turnover from 6 days per month.
So I'm feeling a bit end of term at the moment.

I’m exactly the same as you. Everything will be due in January. As you said it’s a nice problem to have. Don’t worry about it. Customers are not that bothered in January and February anyway. It is what it is.
-
With my van breaking down, I'll move some on so they eventually skip a month bar the one that pays with DD. There's 2 down sides to DD payment, hard to move a month and you don't get tips.
-
Will be done by 23rd. My best commercial day will get done on 28th or 29th December then I’ll start back on 3rd Jan. I’m ready for a break now tbh, havnt had a full week off since August.
-
yes....with my son in university now , ...I have too much work, so I am behind. last month I started a price increase across the board , thinking I may lose a few but still be better off.......
however , I have only lost 1 ::)roll ;D ;D

I just move my whole work schedule 2 weeks forward.
No trying to cram in extra jobs
No messing up my normal schedule
I just start back as if the 2 weeks I've had off never existed....
It's simple and works well
That's means my 4 weeklies are 6 weeks and my 8 weeklies are 10 weeks then i start back on my normal schedule until my next holiday then I do the same again..

Gutting when that happens, makes you wish you put them up by 20% rather than 10%. But if you had done that and lost half of then you would wish you had put them up 10%. Can't win like most things in life.

I work on a 4 weekly schedule but only work 3.5-4 days per week. Last few weeks I’ve worked an extra day per week, so when I break off on the 23rd all work due up to and including the 26th will be completed (if the weather stays fine). This means although I am off for nearly 2 weeks I’m only losing out on 5 days pay.
-
had 2 full days off now because of the weather. Can't clean when its minus all day. Back out tomorrow where I will be playing catch up again.

How can you not clean in minus temperatures? Thought your buddy Oliver at Grippa had set you up with a Webasto hot system!
Was minus 3 when I started, didn’t get above minus 1, full day completed.

Full hot system, heated gloves, heated jacket, 16.5 tog duvet keeping your system warm and you can’t work? 🤡

I'd rather keep my 4 day working week and miss out on the money personally but each to their own.
My way is the easiest, simplest and most stress free.....🙂👍

He's only got 100 customers so he will be nowhere near full up with work....
I've got 317 jobs at the moment and I'm only part time so Scottish must have 3 weeks of the month to do every other job that you can think of to make extra money!🤣

I wouldn’t call requiring to wear goretex jackets (plural) whilst working in the peeing rain the easiest way……..but each to their own😁

I’m in Scotland and haven’t lost a single day due to sub zero temps yet.
We had a full week of sub zero a couple of weeks ago, and then the last 2 days has been -2 during the day, and we work no problem.
Grippatank hot water system has been one of my best purchases. 🔥
You’ve just got to be careful about how much water you leave on the ground, only clean doors with a little hot water and Mayb a cloth, and put a little bit of white (non residue) de-icing salt down for patches you can’t avoid.
Easy peasy. 😁

I only have 140 regular customers but am pretty much full up.

I think I might take Christmas off ;D ;D

As we leave the windows wet and minus all day then it will just turn to ice. Can't clean doors as it will freeze on the step. If you tried that on mine when minus all day I would chase you and probably call you a dafty. No, health and safety always comes first. Even in the rain my customers don't like it when I'm cleaning their windows. I work weekends so I take time off when the weather is against me and work on my bookmaker sideline from my laptop.

Exactly, I don't want my Headstone to read "Worked in pouring rain and minus weather" and look where it got him. I don't have any debt and fire brigade pension so only went into this game because we couldn't get anyone to clean the street's windows.
Yesterday bought a grand worth of Boss Scaffolding because like the WC game its expanding. One of my customers has a scaffolding company and we chat every month when I'm cleaning his flat. Since the new working at height law his business has went crazy.
What I like about the WC game is I continually meet folk and discuss business, I suppose its like networking. 😉

Unheard of.

It will only freeze in empty properties.

I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like being a window cleaner in Scotland it’s bad enough down here in the south

Exactly, that's why I'm part time, it rains every second day up here but the tap water is nearly free as we can take as much as we want. With this weather means plenty of outside maintenance needing done all year round.

It’s absolutely fine being a window cleaner in Scotland. The last two days the temperature has hovered between 0 and -3 but perfectly workable. The last time I had extended downtime was the winter of 2010, but I think the whole country was affected back then.
-
Being a window cleaner that doesn’t work below zero degrees in any part of the uk must be a tough grind.
-
I don't work when zero or below but I do live down south.

it rains every second day up here No it doesn't. Even if it did, rain makes no odds.

50 mph winds and bit of rain tomorrow might drag this week out till friday. Only 42 jobs left and thank f@@k all done for one year
-
2 shortish days left and 5 days to fit them in...one will be Thursday forecast sunny that day and hopefully Friday.
-
2 days left then 17 days off. Looking forward to a nice break. Catch up with friends and family and getting a few jobs done around the house.
I also love the fact that my local gym is only shut xmas day, boxing day and NYD so plenty of time for mid afternoon workouts(which is my favourite time to train).😎👍
-
Our lads will be finished this afternoon.
Mental.
-
Finished at 230pm and called at my local tyre place on way home and got 2 new tires fitted to my van ready for the MOT in January.
All my work up to date and I've moved my whole schedule 2 weeks forward so a nice 17 day break now. Downloaded next years worksheets to my phone and printed my slips for the 6th jan!
Xmas tips have picked up the last few days. Currently around £430 and a bottle of wine. I fully expect to get to £450 (give or take a few quid).
Wishing you all a fantastic Xmas and a productive, prosperous new year!👍🙂

I’m now going to work tomorrow and Monday. I was going to have Monday off but the Mrs has mentioned food shopping so I’d rather work tbh. ;D

I'm off to Marks and Spencer on Monday with the missus for some festive treats! It's me dragging her to go with me!🤣👍

Im up to date, been up to date for months ;)
We're off away, flying out on Christmas Day. Never flown on Christmas Day before, that'll be 'interesting' I'm sure.
-
Didnt work today, finished yesterday fully up to date which is very rare. I might work on monday, only because i bought another van a few weeks ago and just finishing kitting it out, not sure if i can wait 2 weeks to give it a blast. Should have it finished tomorrow.
Might not though we shall see if i have owt better to do on monday.
-
Finished today, not upto date but don't care, bodies telling me I need a rest. Merry Christmas everyone.
-
Had hoped to be finished by Friday, but decided to take a half day on Wednesday to go and play golf, with hindsight that wasn’t one of my best decisions😩. Two hours work to do on Monday then can’t decide whether to start back on Friday 3rd or Monday 6th.

As much as I don't particularly like window cleaning I do find it difficult to give myself time off and not think about window cleaning. There seems to be an underlying guilt for some reason.
Only had 1 full week offf this year as well and didnt even go on holiday apart from 1 weekend away.
-
I finished on the 18th ...... for good LOL

I never feel guilty for having a break.Ive had 6 weeks off this year( including this Xmas)and ill be doing the same again next year.
2 x 10 day holidays booked to Lanzarote in May and Sept and I usually just take 2 weeks off each time...
Your a long time dead. Take(and enjoy) your breaks and holidays Adam. Your kids are only kids once too they'll be too old soon to want to go away with you and the missus!

I can understand that, I also get a feeling of guilt for having time off, it’s weird isn’t it. It’s the reason i take 3 weeks off in the summer, because it takes me a week to settle into a holiday.
