Title: Water Meter on the Blink?
Post by: Bungle on November 13, 2024, 05:58:30 pm
I've moved house and I've just had a bill for the last 6 weeks. Apparently I've used just 4m from 19/09 to 07/11 according to my bill. The development I moved to has got 12 houses and all of meters aren't attached to the individual houses, they're all positioned in a corner of the road hidden under a bush and are digital so they send a reading automatically.

Now for the strange part. Our next door neighbour is the chairman for the residents association and is a bit of a dick. In fact I've told him to eff off already. The water board turned up on Saturday of all days and the bloke was looking at all the meters in the hedge. I walked the dog past him and asked if he was reading the meters. He said he was doing a flow test. I thought nothing of it. I'm wondering if they've got the meters mixed up and he's paying for my bill  ;D and that's why the water board were out testing the water flow?

Yep I bet they've mixed up the meters!🤣🤣👍

I had this and got away without having to pay around a £1500 water bill because it was United Utilities fault. This went on for years. The flat next door was empty so my water bill was next to nothing(just the standing charge). I think I paid something like £90 a year for 3 years before it was discovered!👌🙂

My last 6 monthly bill had me down as using 149 cubic meters. If I'm using 4 cubic meters over 6 weeks it should work out at about 16 cubic meters over 6 months 😂😂

The house is 7 years old. Previous meter reading was 00028. 28 cubic meters over 7 years? WTF? It's now reading 00032.
