My 3d reel keeps running without touching remote and when I hold it ,it blows fuses has anyone else had this problem if yes what causes it cheers
-
Dodgy switch?
-
Is that a definite
-
No because I’m not there! Take the switch apart and have a look. It’s only a few screws. If you’ve got the newer two button switch, wire it to the other button. It’s easy.
-
If it’s the red switch they can stick make sure the bit that goes in and out is lubricated with a silicone spray if it’s that it will fix the problem
-
Had it appart everything looks ok and button not sticking on
-
I have the two button switch. Mine was doing the same but I couldn't visibly see it sticking. It's quite scary when it keeps going & I think dangerous. I kept pumping the switch & it stopped. Once this happened a few times though I rewired it to the other switch button. Seems to have fixed it.
I did phone waterworks twice but kept getting the answer machine. I left a message both times but never got a callback. I wondered if it was anything to do with the relay as I had a spare for some reason but changing the wires to the other switch button seems to have cured it.

Hi I got a new 3d power up recently . And it was blowing fuses . Turns out it should have come with a 40 amp fuse they supplied a 20 amp

One of mine takes a 40amp, the other takes a 50amp. One’s newer than the other. Different motors.
Op is only blowing fuses because he’s grabbing the hose to stop it spinning. Blowing the fuse is the 3d’s only failsafe. There’s no clutch or anything. That’s it’s only letdown imo.

Mine is the 2 button version did you put another remote to it
-
No. Just open up the switch unit & connect the two wires to the other button.
-
Ok cheers bud 👍
-
Definitely not a switch problem I've changed switch still sticking on and blowing fuses 😕
-
I had this problem, I changed the switch for a completely new one.
I had the lower ampage fuse, 40 amp now, that fixed it
Not had a fuse blow in at least 18 months now
-
I had the same problem and thought it was the switch, but it was a relay.
I phoned them up and they were really helpful, the guy I spoke to sent me a pic of the relay to buy from Halfords (about £5), fairly easy to fit and worked fine.

Good helpful post is this.
-
Robbo where is this relay position on the hose reel
-
It’s inside the waterproof box.
-
Cheers lads 👍

Mine’s just jammed on today. Ripped off the rectus 21. It’s actually quite scary & dangerous. I’ve just popped home & changed the relay this time. Hopefully that will sort it once & for all.

They should have a clutch or someone could end up losing a finger.

Get yourself a pure freedom reelmaster. They are bulletproof!
I've had mine for 7 years now and not had one single issue with it!(apart from the chain coming off during the first week of purchase)
The PowerUp reels are just not up to the job day in/day out

The reel master aren’t problem free but are a nice reel , we still have 4 of the original 3D reels in daily use only one has had the belt snap the other 3 have been problem free .

I have two electric reels from Grippatank and they don't have chains. They are also wireless but I just use the on off buttons. 4 years and no problems yet, maybe I've been lucky.

I’ve got a 3d in both vans. I’m not shelling out for new ones. They’re fine. Just a few annoyances, but they were cheaper (not cheap) than the others.
Just a shame the belts are difficult to change when the reel is bolted down & it should have a clutch or similar.
I could pick faults in all my gear.

My belt snaps once a year
Had 4 belts so far.
Also had switch and fuse problems but they are sorted now
-
The price of belts from the guys that build the 3d are 4x the price you can get them on Internet from other traders

Absolutely ridiculous that you have to replace all that in between your day to day cleaning....🙄

I have had the ionics electric wheel for about 3.5 years now , very reliable and still on original belt ........ the switch is a bit naff though .
