Title: Pole sections stuck
Post by: Ggh on August 01, 2023, 10:35:01 am
Got a gardiner #10 stuck in an #11. Don’t want to put it in a vice as I think it will break it.
Any tips  to aid release?
Guessing a bit of grit has got in between and wedged them.

Two people, one at each end, and twist in opposing directions.
Pour a tiny bit of washing up liquid where the two sections meet and leave it to get in the gap for a few mins before you do.

Wear rubber gloves so you don’t squeeze too tight plus more grip.

That's what she said.

I heated the outer one with a gas burner briefly. Did the trick

Cheers guys. I used the vice! Bloody tape bunging it up. Really don’t know why they put it on.

I occasionally get a similar problem with the tape between sections #1 and #2 on my Xtremes. As there is much less tolerance between those two sections than the others, if the stop tape gets cut by some grit it comes apart in between the sections and jams at the clamps making the sections very hard to get apart for maintenance. So I replace it much more regularly between these two sections than the others.

WD40 mate. One person either side and twist and slightly bend as you rotate it.
