Title: Fixing down reel.

Hi hows the best way to fix down a electric reel. Dont really want to go through the van floor.wwoud a piece of plywood be suitable or would that be easy to move about?

The only problem with wood is it gets wet so make sure you treat it.

If the wood was heavy enough and you had some matting or something grippy underneath it would work.

I've just ordered new reel and I will be bolting them through the floor this time

Thanks looks like going through the van floor is the best option.  Just might be a problem for someone who has a leased van.

this is what i did.....i got a rectangular,thick piece of plywood,stapled some black plastic over it and put it across the back of my van,its heavy and a tight fit between my wheel arches at the back of my heater/tank.i then just screwed my reel into the plywood.its solid.works a treat.the pure freedom reelmasters are heavy so it doesnt budge at all

i staple thick,black plastic over my plywood before screwing down my reel.ive also got plastic load liner covering my van floor...

wood will just go rotten and in an accident you don't want a heavy hose reel going flying,

 get a drill and drill some holes, use stainless bolts, large penny washers and nyloc nuts,

Just double check that where you want your reel is suitable to accept all your bolts.
Make sure before you drill, that you are clear of chassis rails and cross- members. The manufacturers have a habit of putting them just where you want to put your reel  :D
