i think most charge a certain percentage per transaction like 3-4%.

I think 2.5% was the cheapest I found, but that was quite a while back.

not worth it, in my opinion of course.

Yes I set up a card system 30 months ago and used it just the errrrr once.
Cash, BACS and bank transfer says it all really.

People tend to spend more when using a card, various studies have shown this.
Paying in hard cash can cause more resistance to up selling.

We know this ourselves .

We take cards for everything, from both domestic and commercial customers.  I don't see how you can't these days but I am sure it works for those that don't.  We have a mobile terminal

Debit Cards Free
Credit 3% extra

We don't take Amex

Steve

We use 123 send through World Pay.  Not the cheapest but the money is in the account within one working day.  So if we take payment on a Tuesday afternoon it is in the bank account as cleared by 8 am on Thursday Morning.  If the lads go out to a job they can either take the machine with them and take instant payment (Which we prefer because it is safer) or they can get the customer to ring through to the office there and then to pay over the phone.  It was great when we were in the ISSA Interclean Amsterdam Show because it was all in the Bank by the time we got back.  Job Done!  The woman at my Slimming Club uses a small credit card device connected to her i pad and that seems to work well

Hi Glynn
Yes but you have to be at a computer  - log in and take the card payment as a supplier would do.
If you are with a customer your phone connects with the keypad and you log in through the phone part. It bluetooth's the information to the keypad. Takes 1 minute to complete and you have the option of emailing the receipt, texting the receipt or issuing a hand written one.
But of course no one has a need for taking card payments - not!  ;D

We have been taking card payments for years, Im just interested in these new type of terminals we currently have the official mobile card machine but its network coverage is poor.

If the card machine network coverage is poor  - it's poor for other networks too and a mobile phone is no different to the hand held terminals.
