Title: 20 Weeks as a full timer is going well
Post by: josephus on August 19, 2016, 11:33:54 pm

After about 20 weeks of full time carpet cleaning I am very happy with the results. I had done it for many years  but only maybe one job a month.

Thanks to this I have started making ok money, bills are not an issue anymore and we are (hopefully) moving to a brand new house.
I am still far to cheap and I doubt I do it as well as I should but in time I'll improve and so will my business.

So true! I am still working on getting customers, but it's improving, I only have one slow week a month now.

Well done with your success so far :)

Where is your work coming from? And how many jobs are you averaging in a week?

Ps...... Is Joseph your actual name?

Hi Mike.

I am getting 60%  of my work through Facebook groups and 40% through Facebook adds. It's early days but I hope to get more regular jobs as I progress. I still do a little bit of window cleaning (300 a month) but it's handy as I fit it into slow days. So far I think I am getting about 9 or ten jobs a week at an average of 45 pounds a job. It's a decent start, and my gear is in really good order so I'll have a while until I need to replace them.

No, my names not Joseph. I joined this forum many years ago and used the same name across every forum I joined. Never got around to changing it.

Cheers

Dr Josephus
So now you have a little more confidence get some more jobs at an average of £65 a job.
How - its so easy. The facebook side produces the cheaper jobs for you but you have another seperate customer base which is your window cleaning. They know who you are and they know your standard of work. You write to each one personally saying that you have now expanded your business and can now clean their carpets. No opening offers, no cheap prices, just a nice letter. Summers here and you remove the pollens and allergens from their carpets and carpets clean and windows clean etc etc. They will call you and ask how much....go round and have a chat to measure up......... but put up the prices.......you are worth it.

Thanks Tony. I'll do that! I really want to push the whole "Family Business" thing. I use that picture and a link to my facebook page which is very popular. I plan to have those kids in my pictures well into grumpy teenage years!

That's a trick well utilised by chemdry...... They all use family photos

Plus photos with a wife and kids makes you look less of a weirdo :D :D

I start from a pretty high "weirdo" base so this can only help me!
