my 2 yr old extreme is starting to die on me, i use an xline mono for 1st cleans & the extreme for everything else & i rinse on the glass , i was thinking the ultimate stiff might be a good replacement for them both
any one used one

Simon its very hard to go up in weight when you have been using the Xtreme, I have been trying the Supreme for a month
or so now and while it is handier for first cleans as it does have extra scrubbing power on repeat cleans there's really no need
for it especially if the Xtreme is working for you.
I think the Ultimate is lighter than the Supreme but I guarantee that you will still notice the weight difference over a days work.
Glad to see I'm not the only one on here where an Xtreme brush lasts longer than a month.

The extremes do last if they are deforming in a very short time your using the wrong brush the are ideal for maintenance work I would recommend the black and white medium for this.
-
i have 2 black & white ones to be honest i don't know how old they are cos i got them 2nd hand i just know i've had them over 2 yrs
the only reason i got an xline is cos i got a new hybrid medium extreme & that really did start to ware out at the corners after a few weeks, but although i like the bigger splay on the xline i have the start of arthritis in both wrists & its too heavy for all day
from what you two say i might try the stiff extreme
thank you both
-
I use the stiff extreme and it is excellent. It's lasting well too.
-
The ultimate stiff brush is brilliant 8) you will not be disappointed . The flocked one is damn good as well.
-
The ultimates are great, very light but loads of bristles and great scrubbing power. The best pound for pound brushes from Gardiners to date!

i have the extreme extra wide, seem to last forever

I used an ultimate medium soft for the first time last week and although it did a good job on maintenance cleans, it struggled quite a bit with stubborn bird muck.
The supreme hybrid would have been better.
The extremes bristles snap off very quickly for me, but yeah it's much lighter, so if they last 2 years for you I would say that's a no brainer

Sorry Simon, but if an extreme brush is lasting you 2 years you need to start cleaning more windows!

Simon if you are using cold don't go for a stiff they don't splay enough and will miss dirt on the glass, a bit like using a wire
brush if you know what I mean.

dunno what people on here do with their gear at all, the medium mixed extremes last really well, i used to use them on 1st cleans as well. ALSO im still using gardiner old soft yellow pole hose which he hasn't sold for years, it was on the first clx i go then i got 100mtrs when he sold it off, its quality stuff but no one else could cope with it, any other pole hose last you 5+ years ???
its the reason i don't need a univalve on my pole but my son has all weather on his & does need one, learn to use what you buy properly & it will last you - extreme hybrids is different though i agree with that ;D

Just noticed the Ultimate flocked I ordered says Gardiner Supalite on it. Do you suppose I've been sent the wrong brush? I have had Supalites before and they looked different to this one. It is a nice brush, but just puzzled as to why it says Supalite when it was supposed to be an Ultimate

You're fine, my ultimates say the same. I believe it is a version of the SL stock.

I do agree with this. I really like the Ultimate brush and I do use it around 50% of the time, but when I put the Xtreme on...... oh the relief...

As BP has said this is correct for the Ultimates as they use the same stock as the Super-Lites. We are working on getting the Ultimate Logo moulded in to help avoid this type of confusion.

alex can i ask does the ultmate brush have more bristels than the supreme brushes ?

They have more bristle bunches than the Supreme brushes, but smaller bristle bunches.
The main difference is that the Supreme brush have a wide angle of splay whereas the Ultimate brushes are on a larger stock, but with less angle of splay.
-
I thought it would probably be something like that. Thanks everyone.
This is a first for me on two fronts. I've never used flocked before or fanjets and I'm really liking both. Thanks Alex

2 years out of an extreme brush?how come the rest of us get 2 months out of them at best before their ready for the bin?the edges go first then they lose their scrubbing ability and the bristles go out of shape.
the ultimate brushes are nearly as light as the extremes but have more bristles and a more solid stock.i dont think ill go back to extremes again now as theres virtually no noticeable difference in weight.you can cover the frames and ledges a bit better.time will tell if they last longer but they feel like they will.

The rest don't Dazmond as there's quite a few on here who get at least a year from the Xtreme, I would say hot users might have a different story though.
Find it hard to believe the weight difference isn't noticeable on the Ultimate as they are on the same stock as a Superlite
but will certainly give it a go.
