Mine have reduced markedly. I'm coming to the stage where I only physically go to the bank once every two weeks.
What is your experience?
-
Cheque have definitely dropped off somewhat since the GoCardless option has been made available.
This might have something to do with the fact I no longer stamp the envelopes for payment by post.
I'd be happy if all my customers were on GoCardless to be honest, it's so effortless.
-
I'm still at around 20%.
About 10 years ago it was about 70%
-
In the past month, 28%.
And in the same month last year .... 28%!
CoCardless available from a week on Monday so I expect that to drop.

About 20% for me..
The majority go for Bacs. ..I have go Cardless on my payment slips but hardly anyone goes for it ???

Although my cheques have dropped a lot over the last couple of years, i still find them a complete pain to the point i am going to attempt to phase them out completely by September and going to send out letters to all those who pay by cheque informing them that there will be a surcharge of £1.50 if paying by this method. I know for some customers that i'm the only person/business they pay by cheque as i write the cheque numbers down as reference.

Only 1 on a regular basis, a fortnightly clean where I am paid monthly.

Massively reduced for me it's only the older customers that still pay via cheque,to good old days of going home with a pocket stuffed full of cash seem to have gone.
-
Only 3-4 but it's much better than chasing cash. Cheque in post no problems.
-
I only have 3 out of 350 custards pay via cheque. I do my best not to take them.
Trips to the bank and parking, waiting for them to clear and then paying through the rear end for the privilege of all that ??? Cash, bacs, GoCardless, PayPal and standing order is more than enough choice!
PayPal is exspesive but at least the money is instant

As we bank weekly I still accept cheques but they are becoming fewer in favor of internet banking. Recently I've had a number of new customers ask me about it as it's easier for them.
-
I have commercial jobs that still pays us by cheque.
-
We still get anywhere from 150 to 250 per week!!
Barclays chargh me £1.50 each cheque to pay into the business a/c, so I get all the customers to make them out to me personally, then once a week transfer to business a/c.
-
Still only accept cash def no cheques still going strong with cash only system
-
We get a few cheques still - but each year the amount of cheques seems to decline.
Most customers now pay bank transfer.
We have about 25% using GoCardless.
All new customers only have the option of GoCardless now.

About 3 a month pay by cheque rest cash apart from 1 that pays directly into bank but she works in bank anyway
-
About a third and nearly all commercial.
-
I get about a third paying by cheque. When I started out on the windows, a mate told me to use envelopes with address on, no stamp, and it saves going back to collect which can be a waste of time and effort if not in. Great advice. I never go collecting. I let my customers know the set-up from day 1 then either Cash if in or envelope and cheque sent later if out.
I made a new invoice slip out about a year and half ago with a few payment options with the intent of seeing if I could get more customers to pay online!! It worked well. Options were: cheque, online, Pingit.
Now, although I still get a few cheques, many more pay online than a few years ago.
-
Actually, make that a quarter by cheque, I was being generous ;D
-
38% here I like to give them as many ways as posss to pay there bills may look into this cardless thing next
-
I wasn't keen on ping it at all as it sounded like a right faff.
But it's just a case of a customer paying me my money using my mobile number. Money goes into bank account and that its.
I am hoping to faze out cheques though and swap them customers to online payment. The worst customers I have are the ones I collect from and it's a cheque. They moan and say it's been sitting here for a few weeks. Send it then !!!!!
