If that's the case then deffo go for a gas one, unless of course, you want to throw 3800 down the drain!! ;D

Had gas ones and unless your talking about a gas powered portable shower heater that sits in your van like a suicide bomber then fair play to you. Tank in the back strapped down and a gas bottle with a couple of bunges round it lol happy days

No, people who posses half a brain can do it correctly & safely. However, if you were conned out of 4k for hot water then that's your hard luck buddy! ::)roll ;)

Wasn't conned mate how long honestly does it take to earn the money for the heater lol,buy wrong buy twice.Bin on the pole nearly ten years DIY ain't for me mate I want to get in the van flick a switch and earn money not be on my hands and knees in the back of the van fixing leaks and split houses. There's a reason big companies like Ionic don't sell something like this

I've been on the pole over ten years. For over ten years all I've ever done is get in the van, flick a switch & earn money. No leaks, no split hoses etc. Ionics couldn't pull the wool over my eyes mate, they tried but I'm not that gullible & I posses more than half a brain!! ;)

Laugh and be sarcastic all you like mate I'm trying to offer blunt truth to the poler who wants honest advice lol,I don't have an ionic system and I wouldn't like you say be ripped off although they look the b******s. Like you say if you want a shower in the back of your van go for it but look at the internal working that arnt stainless steel after a few months and then think again..Pure water rots the insides of these units and they are simply not supposed to be used on a 6-8 hourly basis they are for a quick shower for a few minutes.

They both produce the same results (hot water)
I am going diesel due to van design and system.

I'm thinking of bringing out a hot water system yeah 20 kettles in the back of the van all cable tied to the roof in the rear of the van all swinging mind lol. Well there's nothing wrong with that, perfectly acceptable lol :D :D ;D

Which diesel hot water setup have you got?
As far as reliability goes I got three years out of my £100 lpg Taliban shower. Not a hiccup and I didn't blow myself up. It's still working right now but I keep it a as back up. The others that I know who have paid for diesel hot water systems need to pay hundreds every year to get it serviced and burners replaced, and when it goes wrong they can't fix it themselves.
I'm 100% DIY and if anything goes wrong in my van I can sort it in half an hour. You can't do that with an ionics system. :)

i still got my fog wash from 3 years ago. not used it for a while but I know it will fire up straight away. Proper;y installed it not a Taliban heater, its a economical way of producing hot water instantly

I have a heater from varitech and there ain't much to go wrong with em if they ever do pack up it would be the main motor which can be replaced for a couple of hundred quid,it has a stainless steel exchanger and half a dozen pipes which I replaced to increase the heat it produces. They either work or they don't those type of heaters like I say it has a motor which is webasto just like ionic heaters which is about 7"-7" which is replaceable. Touch wood it's never let me down it's only ever done that when I had some idiot do some wiring which was only suitable for a car stereo

I found with the suicide heater if the flow wasn't suitable within a few drips it would shut off and not re ignite,in the end I sent it back to Afghanistan lol
