Title: metal frames
Post by: stephensll5 on April 05, 2006, 05:11:21 pm
i've done a company three times now, they have metal frames and sills and even after three times the windows are rubbish. is there a reason for this and is there a better way to do them?

steven,
they are more than likely aluminium, which if you are blading will tend to leave a trace of a powdery like substance on the window when you have finished.
like i say if you are blading then we have found the best way is to try not to do too much detailing as this is usually where the powder comes from ( off the scrim).
if you are wfp then i would do all round the frames first then the window let them drip down until the dripping stops then very, very carefully rinse as close to the top of the glass as possible without the water touching the frame.
youre not the first one to have probs with these they can be a pain

I would walk away mate. Tell them to get some decent windows fitted.

im using wfp. the problem is all my big contracts are the same. i got told not to wfp them by ionics but the mangers sent me a letter the other day and told me unless i used a pole then they would go else where.

well if that is what they asked for then what else can you do?  Explain to them that it is not your wfp system at fault but its a problem with the frames, prob the best thing is for the frames to be painted.
