Mine have flattened and shrunk in size, i have looked everywere for them but nowhere has them??? Any ideas
-
Just make one out of a household sponge matey
-
Mine is knackered too.
Managed to rip mine in half.
Will try the sponge idea, couldnt make it worse!
-
I rang Colin's water products but he doesnt sell them
-
Get a yellow dishwashing sponge with the green scouring pad attached. Get a pair of scissors and roughly cut it slightly oversize. Wedge it in with a rolling pin or similar. They last for ever.
-
Sponge?
What sponge?
???

So you are going to pay for something plus postage when you
can look under your sink and find what you need.
If you are worried about using scissors im sure there is an adult
in the house who can help you. ;D
H2o matey you are a suppliers wet dream ;D
-
Jeepers.
What does the sponge do and where does it go?
???

Well its not something i need asap.... But if somewere sells them i would much rather buy them already done rather than cutting up sponges for the sake of a few quid!
Now i understand why you bought a brick of a mobile... Price! You tight man Gary ;D

In the 10'' / 1 litre D.I vessels (the most useless vessels ever) there is a sponge at the top and bottom that (i think) basically keeps your resin compact and probably stops and unwanted dirt going near the resin
Imagine a sponge at the top and bottom on your D.I that fits on the base (inside) and top.

Ye this is true however if my sponges are not in place the resin escapes into the housing

Sorry mate, wasn't saying the sponges were useless....the whole vessel is useless!! ;D
I used one when i first started, i was changing the resin every week...now have a 25litre (whole bag of resin) and now change the resin once a year ish...
-
I got the 25L same as Dal why does the smaller vessels need a sponge and the bigger ones don't ? I'd always go for a bigger vessel anyway as like Darren says it's around a year + that you change the resin !!! 👍

Seriously mate dont talk like a plonker ;D the sponge you get in
a household sponge will do a better job and will last forever like
gold told you in a previous post.
Like i said a suppliers wet dream ;D

I feel your pain, Gary!
OK, if you have a "Ro-man" type or copy of R/O you will have three chambers hanging down.
Looking at it, the one on your left has a kilo of resin in it if you want to polish your water before putting it in your van tank.
To change the resin, you unscrew the chamber and pull out the cylinder of old resin. Take off the top bits and pour out the resin. At the bottom is a little round flat sponge about the size of a biscuit which stops the resin beads getting in the water and blocking pipes and filters.
After a few years this splits or frays and you need to replace it.
Just cut one out of a household sponge - I used a scourer as the rough surface is stronger and goes face down in the bottom of the tube.
Then spoon your resin in, re-assemble, and jobs a good 'un.
I also buy 25 litres of resin but spoon it in every week or two as the TDS climbs past 005.

I didn't know that about the sponge. Amazing what you learn on CIU.
Who knows, perhaps Gardiners will bring out the worlds first spongeless DI soon or maybe Ionics will bring out the same at an incredible cost that does exactly the same thing.
-
I didn't know that about the sponge.
I bet you don't know about soap too, you filthy urchin.
I've not used a sponge in years and all is well.
