Post by: Jonny 87 on January 15, 2014, 09:18:52 pm
This topic won't be here for too long as I'm sure "tosh" the forum keyboard warrior......sorry moderator...........will lock/delete this.

To give some background....

I posted about another forum (which is much much smaller and in no way in the same league as CIU in popularity) which was having problems and seemed to be either hacked, or down for some reason. In NO way was it "advertising another forum". Quite the opposite.

I come back on to CIU later that day and I cannot find my topic was deleted without a word from anyone.

Then I post another topic - "topic deleted?"

This then gets locked by tosh who also deleted my original posts.

To quote tosh

"If I'm wrong, I'm not really bothered, but I'll keep on deleting posts that advertise another forum, 'cos as I've said; I've got mental health problems and it's good to talk about that kind of thing.

If anyone has any complaints, contact admin and whine to them.

I'm locking this"

Can some other admin confirm that this is how a situation should be dealt with?

What happened to freeness of speech? Even if the first topic should have been deleted, why lock the second topic?

no idea what you are on about, but I just tried petes forum and it is down, don't worry it happens now and then, then he remembers to renew the domain name, gave it a day or two and it will be back online

Lol.

It would have been better if it was a link to the anchorman quote. "NO ONE CARES"

Lol

I like the way the original post starts with a type of insult.

How to win friends and influence people eh?

I also pay for advertising my forum. The forum is there for the good of the window cleaners using it and if that involves them being directed to another forum for one reason or another, then so be it.

How many mods are left on that site mate, its just you aint it?

They didn't appreciate anything, the ungrateful scrots. No wonder we all quit, you know what we talked about yesterday. About reducing stuff, so more manageable. Why do you think i quit. Sucked the life out of me and for what, verbal, email and FB abuse. LOL total losers. Since i quit......actually wont go ANY further, as i know a few of them stalk the **** out of me. One guy logs in daily to check me, what a lad.

I have every sympathy for Tosh, its a ***** job being a moderator. Done it twice on two sites, never again. You try and bring something to the table. No swearing, no this, no that. When you try and enforce rules you are hitler.

If its the forum i think it is, they barely had anyone post anyway. Think they've tried to get people to pay for a 'premium member' experiance now, to try to fund the site

Why do members on here so often post in cryptic?

Why not say what the forum is and who is meant by all the untold innuendo’s?

What forum and who? Or is it a secret?

This shouldn't break any 'rules'. Google window cleaning business forum, it will be the first hit.

What happened to freeness of speech?

It doesn't apply to forums.

It's their forum, their rules, their game.

They could delete posts or ban absolutley anyone for no reason, and that's their perogative.

If you don't like it, you don't have to be a member.

All things are lawful, not all things are just.

 :)

Lots of bad things are done in the name of justice.

And sometimes I think folk forget this is a cleaning forum and not the US's First Amendment.

Also, the UK does not have freedom of speech.  Say the wrong things in this country and you'll get locked up.  If you threaten, cause alarm, abuse, harass, distress, cause a breach of the peace or be overtly racist, you will be breaking the law.

With great freedoms comes great responsibility.   Window cleaners aren't ready for that yet, so it seems.
