Split relay could work if you used a car battery.
Friend of my does very little driving and uses one works well for the last two years at least anyway

I would recommend a Smart Charger.
C-Tek or Ring are decent brands.
I use this one: http://www.screwfix.com/p/ring-automotive-8a-smart-charger-with-li-ion-powered-led-display/66709

I just have a Halfords one which is fine. I would NOT recommend their leisure batteries though.

I've got a Ring charger, it has been excellent. Good customer service too.

Works for me too , car batteries accept a higher charge rate than leisure batteries .

What your talking about is a split relay. A charger is well.......a charger. You plug it in then connect it to your leisure battery.

But some of them say they can be left attached permanently I was wondering what users on here do, I was not talking about a split charger I am aware of how they work having used one for many years.

I'm confused.lol

How could you leave a charger connected at all times? You charge your battery up then disconnect it and go about your business. Then connect it up again, rinse and repeat. Or you have a split relay fitted.

On my motorbike I have the connectors for an optimate trickle charger permanently connected. When I park up back home I just plug it in.

Might be what he means.......

If you read the third line down in the description it says can be left connected permanently?
That's why I was asking how others use these, they are not your standard charges I think

Ah ok,

I think that means its nt going to harm the battery by leaving it on charge. Some chargers kill the battery by constantly pumping it with charge. The smart chargers actually maintain and condition the battery instead.
