AS the heading says anyone find this job mindless and no real challenge mentally.I find myself getting more frustrated and no mental stimutation. ??? ??? ??? ???
-
No.
-
Yup, but I'm in it for the money.
I love it. Gives the time to listen to things that are worth being stimulated by.
Get yourself some decent music or an audiobook subscription

Stick some tunes on your iPod and jam it up....

its definitely the most boring of jobs .well the most boring I've ever done anyhow .. more tolerable when you have something to listen to i guess..
-
lots of freedom so who cares how boring it might be

I used to sound like you when I was trad. Back then window cleaning was a mind game ,was so hard to motivate myself to get out there and work.
I had spells of depression caused by being a window cleaner.
WFP has completely turned it around, now I love it , would not swap it for any job
-
just imagine being in an office all day or doing shifts

You didn't.
You can't catch depression from window cleaning.
You may have just been in a bad place at the time and attributed it to your work.
Glad you're ok now though.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives in this job.

its all in the mind . once you admit to yourself that this is it ,nothing else is coming along to save you, it gets better from that day on

Get some staff!!!! That'll give you a headache! :P

Maybe growing the business and employing someone would help you? If you dont want to take it to that level then as others have said try music and audio books.
Download an app called "Audible" for your smart phone.
If your sinlge start flirting with the attractive female custys too ;D
And have a hobby outside of window cleaning to look forward too and plan holidays and stuff!
All the best

i see it as a type of meditation sometimes.i work in some very quiet peaceful areas.sometimes the only sounds are the birds singing and the water flowing from the brush.bliss! ;D
the neighbours near me have been arguing and yelling at each other constantly for about a week now.my girlfriends house is pretty lively most of the time in a good way but..............
to me going to work is like going fishing.......window cleaning is how i get away from it all.im out in the fresh air, braving the elements.
drink and drugs is defo not the way to go at all for me.total clean lifestyle.
most days i feel good ready for the day.if im feeling tired and run down then i take a day or two off.
the odd chat with a customer and a bit of a laugh helps the day along.
i find the days and weeks fly by when im working.sometimes there doesnt seem to be enough hours in the day!!
window cleaning boring?well yes it can be but the sheer joy of not working for someone else, the freedom and earning power it brings far outweigh the menial nature of it for me.
i have a conny roof clean booked in at 10am followed by a UPVC clean around the corner.both these are new customers so im going the extra mile making sure the jobs are spot on.
ill actually enjoy turning a minging roof into a nice clean roof that you could eat your dinner on! ;D ;D
yes you have to be a bit crazy to do this job but yes i love it! ;D ;D ;D
earning money is like a drug to me.i like to be out earning most days.i need my fix!! ;D ;D ;D

When I get bored I just go on Gardiners website and order a new Extreme pole.
-
Its perfect for me.
I love working outside and would never ever work inside again.
I employ my mate so we have a proper laugh 'most' days ;)
Must admit, I do not enjoy WFP no where near as much as traditional, but we earn more money so I just think of that.
This year has got off to a quality start, really been knocking out lots of work, and have got a serious amount of motivation in me to push Purefect forward. Our new van has helped.
... And on that note, i'm off to work cause I didnt go out last night ;D

I used to work in a call centre for £6.28 an hour and every call was Recorded. I had to read a legal statement 35 times a day. You had several to read depending on the job.
If one word was wrong, you would loose a 1/3 of your bonus.
If I am ever having a bad day I think of my boss who was a proper milf with her shirt always popped slightly coz of her tits.

It's not the only job that can be mindless and boring. It is the only job which can be mindless and boring and regularly pays what it does though whilst others think you earn next to nothing.
I'll settle for that thankyou very much.
-
I must say its the easiest way to earn money, but just repetitive. I don`t even switch on my brain. I am stimulated by different challenges. I will mix up my daily route and start at the back of each house just to make in interesting. ??? ???
I do have other business interests but still bored with this job, maybe have a chaser after each house.

You don't "switch on your brain" when you post on here either ;D
-
maybe have a chaser after each house.
Many a true word said in jest eh?
If you're finding window cleaning mindlessly-boring, look upon the boredom as a challenge to be overcome!
Now there you go, you've got a challenge on your hands.

I didn't come into this game until two years ago so 46 at the time. I have worked in the NHS and within drugs counselling for nigh on 30 years and moving into window cleaning is the best thing I have ever done. No office politics, whingeing co-workers, shifts being changed, risk of redundancy, contract renewals etc etc. Believe me I could go on and on. Cannot wait to go full time at it in April as the challenge for me now is to grow a successful business and a business that will last. Yes I want to make some money but being my own boss has given me a new lease of life.
No regrets whatsoever.
-
I might not switch on my brain when on the forum, but some have no brain to switch on at all.Ha HA ;D ;D ;D ;D tell someone who cares.

○ no boss telling you what to do
○ time off whenever you need
○ no long hours
○ decent pay.
○ out in the fresh air
○ minimal start up and monthly maintenance costs
○ hardly any stress
○ no unrealistic targets to meet
○ more family time
○ regular income with opportunity to expand not stuck on a fixed wage
● it may be boring but what job isn't every jobs boring
-
No tax to pay and still claim maximum benefits, more time to bang some more kids out too.

oh yeah that too
-
should have put a poll to this. personally I love what I do it has its ups and downs but its a motivator.
-
Been through a number of jobs and there nothing compares with this, I love it and wouldn't pack it in for anything else.
Compare it to being stuck on site getting thrown orders from the foreman or stuck in a kitchen factory looking at the same four walls all week long, it's heaven.
Had a lovely final week to the fishing season there because of my new found freedom :D

I do find the job a bit boring, but it does have its plus points. I sometimes think (i bought a large part of an existing round to get started) i should have looked at other things i could have got into with the money i spent, but a bit pointless doing that now. Been at it it for 4.5 years now and with virtually no canvassing, my round is worth more than double what i started with, and more work coming in all the time, so i cant really complain. There are loads out there with no job and no prospects, including university graduates with qualifications coming out of there ears. As long as i can pay the bills and keep a roof over my family's head I'm happy enough!
-
awkward customers and p takes nark me but just get on with it and move on.
-
Doing this might brighten your day up, not so easy with water fed pole though.

Done the high stress, depression inducing banging your head against a brick wall job and a pension.
They can keep it..
I now wash glass, get outside, meet people who don't want to kick my head in come and go as I wish.
I have a business where I call the shots, I have no boss, no stress no depression..
Bored ? No not me..
