Title: Is my payload on here somewhere?
Post by: Nick_Thompson on November 11, 2013, 04:37:45 pm

If the image has materialised, then you should be able to see my payload, apparently. Any ideas!  ???

Thanks Don Kee, that would be nice if it was. It's the only number that seems to fit the bill.

Matt, now all I need is to identify the kerb weight!  :)

I've tried that Bobplum, but thanks anyway.

Spruce has suggested that the payload may be around 1300 kg, but he pointed out that it depends on a number of variables.

I was informed that the payload should be displayed on this plate somewhere, but perhaps it's revealed only through calculating the gross/kerb weight differential.

So, I need the kerb weight, I guess.

I think the 2 lower figures are the maximum loads for the front and rear axles. The highest figure is for the maximum groos weight and the other the kerb weight.

If I am right then subtract 2880 from 3500 to give the payload. The info on my dispatch is similar but it does tell you what the different figures refer to which confusingly yours does not.

The 2880 is the max vehicle weight so included everything, you, fuel, spare wheel and payload.
The 3500 is the max including a towed trailer.
the 1450 is the max front axle load weight
The 1700 is for the rear axle.

Your payload is not on there. You need to find out the kerb weight for your vehicle and subtract it from 2880kg. Really your best bet is to load it up with everything other then the water and get it weighed. The difference between the weighbridge weight and the 2880 is how much water you can carry.

I used this site when I was looking at new vans - as the payload varies from model to model so much

Ford Transit t300, 2003.

Dave and David, thank you guys! It looks as if the old tranit has around 1300 kg payload.

That is the way I would see it.

So it looks like you have a T280. What does your log book say?

Sorry Spruce, but I don't have the log book to hand, but from memory it verified the badge; t300.

A t300 would usually have a 3000kg gvw.

That certainly the way it was. It did concern me though with the 2880kgs. 2800 was definitely a T280 and a 3000 was a T300.

Nick, what is the van? SWB low roof, Med roof etc. and year. Cheers.

I'm even more confused now.

The chassis no tells us the van was made in Germany WFO and the year of manufacture is 1997 - according to Wikipedia.

Spruce, it's a SWB low roof, an ex BTvan.
