I should think your right, but I havent been brave enough in the last 12 years! doesnt sit right with me unless it was someone who had been messing me about and they were getting dumped after payment.

Oh yeh and have'nt collected for well over 3 years.

I've got nearly all my domestic on MOD houses. Average age of my custies is 25. There're no cheques here in "ze fatherland".
I work a 6 weekly run, so DD is out.
Online banking is in Gurmun only, so most custies are knackered on that one.

I like collecting though, and collect on Sundays or last two days of the month. (When they have money!! )This gives me contact with custies who are always out when we work, and also, indirectly takes the pressure off to only have the windows cleaned when they have money in the house (Not today, I'm skint etc)

In general, I've got about 200 to 300 quid outstanding at the end of each 6 weekly run, and I can live with that. Any messers get dropped, and I canvass to replace the ones who're posted out every 6 months now.

All of my Brit custies will be gone in about 5 years, so we're putting more into our other work instaead. In my opinion, collecting is a good thing as it puts a face to the service that they're paying for. If they know you or at least know what you look like and have some contact with you, they're less likely to jump to another cleaner, even when these can be much cheaper. Personal service matters IMO.

Was thinking about doing this today.

Didn't though as it was cold out and the central heating kept me warm. I will make it a collection day though from next week.

Haven't decided on hours though. What would you recommend?

don't get a lot of messers but the odd one or two need a special call on.

In summer, I start at about 5 pm as young families (Soldiers families) can be out at local open air pools here etc. and I go till about 7pm if I need to. In winter, I kick off about 430pm and by 5 pm you can see house lights on/off etc, saves knocking and waiting when nobody is home etc. Again, till about 7pm if I need to clear the area till next clean.

no i never collect on a sunday.monday or friday evenings for me.im doing less and less due to more customers paying online or sending cheques.

it works well on my very compact estate work though and keeps cash flow good which is very important for any small business.

in fact i very rarely work any sundays these days. if i do its commercial only.

I only collect Thursday and Friday and have for 2 years, so most of my customers are in and ready with the money so only takes around 1 hours per night. There is a few who keep saying" i forgot to get the money out" im biting my tongue at the moment because there only round the corner.
