We have had three guys in the last two months, they just don't want work half the time. How hard is it to find a good lad.
-
They are out there.
Plough through the dross to get to them though.
-
Very hard!
When you find a good one, make sure you keep him or you'll kick yourself later.

I have had two that started well at the start but soon started to slow down, find excuses, became unreliable, became ill on days when it rained and so on. You will soon know which is the right employee, you geta gut feel after a while.
Ill phone you tomorrow for that chat

there's no short cuts recruiting staff. i;ve been recruiting for 6 yrs now and have made some bad mistakes. only way i managed to get better at it is learning from each bad experience and learning a lot about recruitment and selection. you need to do all the profesisonal things to get good staff.
it comes down to your advertising (job centre), your interviews, cv checking, taking up references, work trialling... and then managing from there on in. so many ways you can get it wrong.
the main thing you need to remember is whatever happens, it is always your fault. whatever they do, it's your fault.
it's no good saying the staff arent there or whatever.
it;s not easy, but it saves a lot of hassle and heart ache when you get good at it.

I know what your saying but I dont think anyone is talking about taking on a doley window cleaner.
No matter how experienced someone is for me the money tops out as much as there is a starting rate otherwise they are eating into my money.
But for the sake of this thread I expect most people are talking about hiring someone and training them up?
saying that its not a problem i have im a bit of a lone wolf
-
watch out for dope smokers - very common but bad news in this game .
, theyre easy to spot, goattee beard comes first and then work at a true snails pace . get rid before they fall
-
where do you stand with the law,ie holiday pay? sickness pay?
Can you take ppl on on a self employed basis ie only get paid for hours done,or has the law changed on this in recent times?
-
Im back on my own.much better off and enjoying it more on my own plus i get no complaints.

Pay peanuts get monkeys!
I've been employing now on & off the past 18 years, current top performing staff can make 30k a year, average earnings about 22k.

but also if you pay monkeys 22k a year, they'll still be monkeys.
paying people more doesn't make them better staff.
