hi
i've got one of the 8l water heaters in my van like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-8L-GAS-LPG-PROPANE-TANKLESS-INSTANT-HOT-WATER-HEATER-BOILER-STAINLESS-/181037579248?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item2a26ae3bf0 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-8L-GAS-LPG-PROPANE-TANKLESS-INSTANT-HOT-WATER-HEATER-BOILER-STAINLESS-/181037579248?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Hearing_Cooling_Air&hash=item2a26ae3bf0) it works fine except that recently its taking a long time for the flame to ignite. i can hear it clicking but the flame doesn't light for ages and sometimes i have to turn it on and off a few times until it finally lights. anyone got any ideas what the issue is?

Have you tried replacing the batteries? It'll still spark with 90% dead batteries, but there might not be enough power to open the gas valve...

try to undo the gas pipe a little attached to the heater, allow a little gas to hiss out then tighten it up again, then try to light it again.
I have to do this to my L5 at times when I change the gas bottle as it gets air in it.

you may have gas or water flow to high its a case of fine tuning, its a ball ache i ditched my heater to much hassel

the gas is regulated so that wont be the problem and the faster the flow rate the better it is,
its low flow rate that wont turn it on or even make it click!

as the gas is regulated from the bottle its also regulated at the heater as im sure you are aware so if its to high at the heater end it wont ignite ??? also water comes into the equation if ound it a right pain i was always having to re set all the time. i would mark positions where it was working for a while then it went tits up so i lost faith, it was a fog wash i even had my look at it he fits boilers he told me to wang it in the bin after 2 hrs fannying about .

Too much flow and too little flow both prevent my Fogwash igniting. When you find the point where it always fires then record your controller settings and mark your flow valve setting on the casing.

that must be another good thing about the L5 then,
I can run my shruflo 100psi pumps on full flow rate and the heater still kicks in and heats the water!

Mine has been more reliable after re plumbing it. I suck water through it rather than pushing it through under pressure.

can this not damage the pump if its got hot water going through it

not really, but the hot water will wear out the rubber diaphragm sooner than cold would.
