The L5 doesn't need someone to fit it or a flue. (If you work with your back door open)

You'd be better having the flu in the South East or the Channel Islands as the climate is more conducive to a heavy cold.

Back door open implies you're homosexual.

I'm all for bantering with someone but they have to understand it.

We've all been in your position Ben-looking onwards & upwards but not being sure how.

Less than £200 you'll have lovely hot water. No worries.

Darren, which hose do you use from the boiler to the hose reel?

Many thanks

It's just standard 1/2' hose bud, quite a thick wall on it.
Got it from Pearson Hydraulics (they're in my town but google them)
Think it was about £30 for 30metre roll.
Used it for all my hosing in the van and my static.

Do you leave your door open when using the boiler?
Title: Re: hot water system
Post by: PoleKing on September 15, 2013, 01:47:07 pm
Yeah, I always have.
I've always thought about setting up to have an external reel too but never got round to it. May do one day.

I don't know the science behind it, I don't know how much oxygen is in the van to use with the door closed and boiler on. Not a problem while the door is open though.

You really should go for it bud, you seem 90% sure to me. The 10% worry will soon disperse when you're warm as toast water keeps you through winter.

Nearly.
The L5 requires 2 'D' batteries to make the spark to ignite.
I'm starting week 3 tomorrow with mine and still on the first set.
I think if 2 batteries last me 3 months I'll just stick to that.
If they end up needing to be replaced much more often ill sort out a 3 volt step down from my system battery

Ok so doing some researching tonight and two questions
1- is they any slots on back of L5 to hang on van wall ?
2- will normal garden hose be sufficient ?
Also they are about £40 cheaper on amazon
Compared to EBay
Cheers wayne

1) yup, 2 little brackets. Mines just hung on one of them.
2) possibly. Try it. If it works-great. If not, upgrade. I fear it won't but you'll lose nothing by trying.
3) if its exactly the same unit-font see why not...
I've got the newer one without the 20 minute cut off.
RC has the older one, which he feels is better as it has the 20 minute safety cut off.
Far as I know they are the only 2 differences.

The old ones did-20mins.
New ones don't.
The Corwoods banner will be along in a minute, it says 'no 20 minute cut off' in the lhsb corner

There easy to fit instead of the 1/2 hose that comes off your pump and into your hose reel basically it will come off your pump go into the shower put an other piece of hose which will be coming out the shower hot after 10 minutes and that will go into your hose reel job done. The small gas bottle hose will go on the small outlet next to the x2 outlets for the hose pipe. Be aware when you first get it going don't forget it takes abit of time to warm up it doesn't come out hot straight away just incase you think it's not working. Also adjust the water speed with the dials and the cold and hot button as if the water comes thru to fast you will need to slow it down a tad as it will keep putting out the pilot light !!!! Hope that helps

Poly urethane hose.is the correct hose which will work fine till 60 degrees then it can be a little unpredictable.
