Did a gutter, facia, soffit clean today and there were black spots on the lower level gutter (on the outer side of the gutter and underneath). It looked like black specks of bitumen or tar. Quite a lot of it. Nothing would shift it, so I got out the scraper and fine wire wool. Any ideas what it is and how to get best to get rid of it next time?
Cheers

Has there been ivy growing there ? Ivy leaves a sort of black spot where it has been attached to gutters etc? I haven't found anything to shift these spots.

Was it a flat roof thats been resealed or cladded.

I think Ucky may have it! There was loads of ivy there and they've had it all cut away. It's left all the obvious signs.
Thanks guys.

Another cause is a neighbour next door spraying the fence with sealer, those put spray jobs and it can drift over onto the next door PVC. ;D
