More and more people texting to book appointments rather than ringing technology is great
-
it's not that great and they also text to cancel, which is bloody rude.
-
I like a telephone call it engages the customer you can build up a relationship with less chance of cancelling.

So impersonal if they are not on you contact list, how do you reply if the nbr is unknown ;D ;)

I don't like it. I prefer a call as you can sell to them better. Unless its a repeat customer in which its different.
I find 80% of people that cancel will cancel via a txt message.

I have booked appointments via text but only
because I've spoken on the phone earlier.
They usually say I'll text you some dates when
I get to my diary at work tomorrow.
Never completed a booking without at some point
speaking to them.
And yes about 75% of cancellations are by text.
They're the ones you know won't be re booking.

I'd forgetten but had an urgent text today for a job but it was an old customer spooky!

I get a booking every year by a customer of mine and only by text...she never rings.
She's totally deaf.
Makes sense really ;)
