CURRENTLY USING GEORGE - BUT FEELING ITS LIMITED FOR WHAT I WANT IN TERMS OF SEARCH CRITERIA.
PROBABLY NOT USING ALL FUNCTIONALITY BUT WANT TOO AND YET NOT KEEN ON INTERFACE AND AVAILABLE OPTIONS FOR RECORDING INFO.
TRAWLED THROUGH AOME PAST POSTS BUT COULDNT FIND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.
PLEASE POLL AND ADD ANY COMMENTS ABOUT SOFTWARE
PAYROLL AND ACCTS ADDITION WOULD BE USEFUL TO ME NOW ALSO.
-
I currently use George, Aworka & WCPro for database management and Sage Accounts for invoicing
I like George & Aworka, the best in terms of functionality and useability would be Aworka
Im now starting to phase out WCPro it takes up too much of my time sorting worksheets

I use excel which i find does every thing i need at the moment i have tried all the above software and find excel suits me.

erith - nice job mate - just a couple of q's -
how do you plan future work ? and do you split you work into rounds ? or is it a long list just seperated by dates ??
i started out with excel but soon became to complicated for me to make it work how i wanted - looked at George and that was far to basic so been using WCPro for nearly 3 years it does all we require.
recently looked at Aworka but no calender so for us it's no good

I just update the next clean date once the job is done and i only have one round which is just one big list of jobs i work my way to the bottom then start again find it work OK for me it will need changing a some point but for now it's fine.
I'm going to see i can find a formula to create a automatic dept list once the account has a - amount in the money owed column

Paul, that is fantastic the way you have set that up. I have word and xcel on my mac but don't understand what to do to create my own

I used to rave about WCP - but the lack of development & basic updates mean that the product is now outdated & while it still works for me, I'd never recommend it to anyone again.
I don't think there's a perfect solution for me available at the moment - - I want something with a "one off" upfront cost (no monthly fees) - data kept directly on my device so that connection issues can't stop me working (no "cloud" or internet based apps) - and one that has a mobile version for my android phone,.... its not that big an ask is it?
-
Nat - totally agree there is nothing that is a 'perfect fit' we had pinned our hopes on aworka but the lack
of a calendar was just a big no no for us.
while WCP has no longer any updates and could benefit from being polished and refined, out of the software
out there it is still a front runner, tis a shame the compass 180 never came to anything - have no objection to a monthly payment style software

I think soapy souter has got the right idea to be honest once i get to a certain size i will be doing the same thing get you own software do to my own specs.
But for now spending thousand on software is just not needed for the size of my business

Hi Erith. I was going to have another look at your Excel spreadsheet at it seems very good but the link has stopped working. Please could you repost the link if that's at all possible.
Many thanks

Aworka, excellent cloud based application with excellent support, can't fault it!
-
seen a new one called Round Partner, really good, got some smart features. can drag and drop jobs, show debts comments etc.
-
if your a sole trader window cleaner id recommend george systems as its a one off fee of £50 and £12 a year internet back up.
its very simple to use and does everything i need it to do and keeps my business running very smoothly and efficiently.
