There is comments on the internet about December and January being the coldest winter in 100 years . Minus 20 C. being the norm. How do you experienced WFP cleaners cope in  such weather as this winter is my first with WFP.

blah blah blah, they say it every year.
Just work when you can, as best you can.
It will be spring before you know it  :)

Wow hope it's wrong! Don't know how anyone will cope with those temps. Trad wouldn't either. Hot water wfp would be in danger of cracking glass possibly, don't know for certain tho. Look out there will be a lot of unemployed windys if that happens!!

Good answer.
I'm trad and we get minus 15 over here most winters. Can work down to about minus 7 with antifreeze in cold water. WFP would be a non starter with temps like that.

I'll take it as it comes. Work when I can.
The best weather forecast is sticking your head out of the window and see what it's doing, because as far as I am concerned the weather forecasters get it wrong 99% of the time. I don't even bother listening to it any more.
I totally agree with Neil.  ;D

Daily Mail online headlines today  ;D ;D ;D ;D

yep somewhere in this country it will possibly hit -20 ... prob on top of some desolete windswept mountain top.

If it does hit -20 in the towns those of us with old people best be ready to do some canvassing to replace the dead ones.

Start a little later when its above zero ... stick a rad / heater in van during night ... bring poles and reels into house / garage.

Even starting a little later u still get same done as they dont come out and slow you down by talking to you  :D

You just gotta accept that some days you wont be working.

Had a look on sky news weather page headline SUB-ZERO TEMPS FORECAST  temps as low as -6 and bitterly cold winds . Not all that cold then most probably -6 with wind chill .

For those that work inside it will be cold but for us hardy window cleaners we will just get on with it as normal .

I have put winter duvet over tank tonight and the hose from outlet on tank to pump box i have wrapped old t-shirts around and taped them in place and covered up with duvet . Hose reel is in cab of truck and wrapped up with a big throw and car seat cover .

Got a 20ft garage now so should be ok for now and brought DI in house for tonight as frost is forecast and got a 7am start in the morning . Mike

I tend to leave the van as it is until temps get to -2 or lower during the night, then the heater goes in from around 9pm or so. I used to worry about it a lot more but believe it's ok at 0 or -1 with nothing in the way of heat/added protection because on the odd time I forgot and temps dropped to -1, it was always fine in the morning.

Pretty conclusive, then.
When it gets to -20 I buy more chocolate Hob Nobs, tea, coffee and batteries for the remote control.
It's great.

Joking aside, that's the best attitude.
We'll still have weather when we're all long gone.

Almost every year, there is a story like this one.
It's a bit like those stories that this or that gives you cancer/cures cancer. Newspapers have pages to fill.

I put my thermals, put my hat on, and get on with it. Got an immersion heater and a bag of rock salt for my older customers.
Only been going 9 years mind, just a boy compared to some on here.
As that wise man said earlier, you do what you can, when you can.
I check the forecast but never trust it beyond a day or two cos it always changes.

Well I am frozen off so far today. Didn't heat the van and the reel, all internal hose, pump frozen solid  :( Guess it serves me right for choosing to not heat it. Got to -3 and the back door is a bit loose as well.

aye it is ruddy cold today, 7 am til 7.30 working away fine tried to collapse pole all sections with a layer of ice and they wouldn't close, finished ground floor trad got hot water and defrosted pole, went onto domestics and same as you water freezing on glass, kept going until 2pm though, hope the frozen ice on the glass melts before the customers notice :o but I doubt it it is colder now
