Title: RatedPeople.com
Post by: Alfa on November 22, 2012, 11:08:06 pm
Hi

Just a quick one.... Have you ever tried RatedPeople.com and if so how did you find this site?
We recently joined , but as new members we do not have any reviews, so no luck in getting any job from there. One lead cost between £5 +Vat to £50-£70.

Thanks

Took the trial but never followed up as you are paying good money just to quote on a job, customer states their budget and you can still be undercut  :-X

It has little if anything to do with providing a service to people looking for "Rated People". It's more about a money making machine for the site owners. How does a client know if you're really good at the job? How many are they comparing you to? Have you just done a quick "visual" clean or a full deep clean? Is the client an expert on cc'ing and so qualified to judge? Do you just have a nice smile and have good conversation skills?

Pay for the opportunity to quote and still not get the job? Better things to spend my hard earned on.

True, we give money for a lead then go to quote and never get the job.
Twice paid for a lead but customers did not answered their phones and we are still waiting for a refund.

Sounds worse than Groupon to me. At least with them you get a job- even if it is a loss.

I've had great success so far with rated people, you have to be quick though. Only this week I quoted a large living/diner for £123 and got the job there and then.
I'd say it's more than paid for itself it the last three months i've been using it. I've had one person not answer the phone but it's only a fiver so no biggie, if it started happening a lot i'd get rid.

I have to echo Neil's comments. 5 months in and it's doing well for me :)

Good for you I might say that we will keep on trying as well, but did you get your jobs without any ratings? People do read reviews and we do not have any, so if we compete with someone with 10 good ones who do you think will be the winner? It is our 2nd week on this site. Let's see. Good luck!

To be honest Alfa, I have found if you're quick off the mark and get it quoted ASAP then the ratings really don't matter. Once you meet the customer they can judge you for themselves.

Now I'll echoe Fran, I have quite a high success rate in converting jobs in person. If I can get myself in the door I'll sell it. The one I quoted this week had me eating biscuits and drinking tea and talking about my upcoming trip to Aus, it's that point I knew I'd sold it no matter the price really.
