I would like to publicly thank KevinLoomes for his speedy support today after i encountered a problem mail merging while using Cleaners Mate with a starter version of Word.
Despite there being no problem with the Cleaners Mate software, Kevin promptly gave great support and assistance meaning my dilema was quickly rectified.
Brilliant service, thank you.

That's why Kev is so well liked and respected he's a top top man

Can't remember if I said thanks Kev so thank you ever so much!!

Thanks Gary for the kind words - and everyone else, it means a lot. Paul, 50 next year mate!

Mossy I feel 70 at times but you look 75 all the time ;D ;D ;D
-
Reassuring to know there is that level of support if needed.
Don't know anyone who's bought it and not thought it was a sound investment.
You should do a promo video Kev of happy customers.

If Kevin reads this -
I loaded in the trial version a few months ago. I could be wrong but I did not find any help files with the programme, and that really put me off, as It was all Greek to me and with no accompanying help files I didnt buy it. Did I miss where they are placed as I want the programme, but this did put me off.
-
Hi Benny
There is a user guide and help tutorials on the website. The videos are a valuable source of information as you can learn quicker watching them as opposed to me trying to tell you over the phone.
And of course, if you do need advice then just call.
Thanks

Kevin
I am on my 5th day of trial with CM.
What version is the trial one.
Will be buying it providing I can get out of quick books
with my business account.
Is there a password protection on the licensed one, can't
find one on the trial.
John
-
Hi John
The trial version is the same setup file for everyone. It's the insertion of a key that unlocks certain features and removes the restrictions that a trial has - and this is all dependent on what key (version) you buy.
There is no password protection re: above, but if you choose to use a password for yourself or your staff then these can quickly be set up to use the software, to protect any unauthorised entry.
Hope that makes sense.
-
I've just bought it, great piece of kit!
And Paul, you are wrong, Kev is 49, he's been 49 for the last 11 years!
;D ;D ;D
-
Cheers Kevin.
I currently have business essentials with Barclays which
includes Quick Book but I find it too complex for my needs.
That and the fact that it's £20 per month.
You can buy Quick Book for about £240 I think so after 3
years with them I'm now only paying only for the fact that
they store my accounts on their server should my computer
go tits up.
Going to ring to see if I've got to keep paying to keep the
business account open.

John,
You will still need an external accounting software to run your books.
Cleaners mate doesn't yet have the facility to input any outgoings so these will still need to be kept elsewhere. ie. Quickbooks.
Maybe Kev can develop it in future for it to be a complete system ;D

Here's another (cheaper) accounting option to QuickBooks: http://www.kashflow.com/ (http://www.kashflow.com/)

Oh! I've got access to Kashflow through my accountant (TaxAssist) and their charge is £10 monthly (plus VAT I guess) for the use of it.
-
Fair enough.
If you're getting it for £12 a month then I'd say that's a pretty good price :D
-
I was doing a job for a self employed electrician a
couple of weeks ago.
He bought the Quick Book software for I think he
said £240.
So why am I paying £21 a month forever.
Fran
Do Barclays let you opt out but still keep the business
account, haven't rung them to find out yet?
John
-
To be honest John, I really don't know.
However, I doubt it as all banks charge a monthly fee (varies). What you are paying for with barclays is a whole package. Business management software etc. as well as quickbooks.
I don't know what he other banks are charging but I'm happy with what I get. (Rephrase that, I'm not happy with any bank but I can't run my business without one) so I guess I'll just keep paying the £21.
Fran.

Support is essential, and I physically cannot NOT help anyone whos asks for it - even if its unrelated to software, just couldnt live with myself. As it happens though there are a couple of video testimonials on our promo video http://www.youtube.com/user/kevff6
-
It's not just the £21 though is it.
I'm charged for every transaction be it cash or cheque.

Hi Jand S
One way to legally reduce your bank charges is to get a seperate paying in book for your private account and use this paying in book exclusively for paying in cash takings to your private account. If your bank queries it you can truthfully say it is your drawings.
If push comes to shove you can always then transfer the cash back into your business account electronically (usually) without charge.
At about 80p per £100 cash paid in that will save you a large amount on your business bank charges.
Hope that helps.

If you need free accounting software vt cashbook is worth a try
-
Roger
I have a current account with a different bank and pay
most cash payments in there to be honest.
I only pay into the business account what I need to
cover my monthly outgoings at the beginning of the month.
After the first week everything goes into the current account
anyway, even cheques if I can get away with making
them out to me rather than the business account.

I currently keep my contacts on Microsoft Office Access.
When I licence CM can I import them straight onto the
CM database or is it the grind of doing it manually?
John
-
Hi John
You can import your clients, if you let me know your email address I will give you details.

Imported all my data onto the spreadsheet but when
I try to save I get "CleanersMateImport.csv is read only. To save a copy give it a new name
in the save as dialogue box"
Is this because the product isn't licensed yet???
-
Its typical of saving a csv file John. If you e mail me directly rather than on here, then I'll get it sorted for you 8)

Hi Kev
I have been looking at your software and downloaded the trial version which looks great.
I have one question for you though.
I re format my pc once a year by backing up all important files then clear out the rubbish and start again with a fresh install of windows.
Does this mean that every two times I do this I will need to re purchase again ?
Cheers
Steve
-
Hi Steve
Not at all, you can install it as many times as you want on the 2 pc's.
-
Thanks Kev
I will give you a call when convenient as it looks just the job for my contract cleaning Business. ;)
-
No problem Steve, speak to you soon.
-
When is best day and time to call?
-
Thanks for the chat earlier Kev ;)
-
Hi Kev, is it still only for PCs?
-
Yes it is Rab.
-
That`s a shame. I bought a version 3 years ago 1.6.8.0 and I have it on a note book which is a wee bit too small but still usable. Thinking of giving it another bash. How can I upgrade?
Cheers.
-
Just noticed the support page. I`ll try tomorrow.
-
I was using pocket cloud last week to run cm and found it worked great.
I think the ipad mini and similar size tablets are going to make in home quoting much more acceptable to custies as laptops are intimidating. You can do your cm quote taking them through it whilst both focused on the screen. You can use it for them to give feedback/surveys and of course payment.
By Jan it will be a small minority that aren't tablet/touch screen capable.
-
Kev on a side note.... Do you find many people change thier email address over time as they change Internet providers?
If you send out a mass email do any that are not delivered ( due to the above problem) get returned, so you know and can contact them the old way

Hi Rab, blimey - you have an old version. Yes download the latest one as its a different beast to that version and can be viewed on smaller screens (we use netbooks). Upgrade here: http://cleanersmate.co.uk/Upgrade.htm

Hi Mike
I presume you mean when clients change their email address? Who knows when they change it - we can never know unfortunately.
But yes exactly, when you do an email mailout the response to an email not getting delivered is pretty much straight away (sometimes a day or so later at the max) so you can then adjust your database accordingly. Then use other methods to contact them.
We personally dont use email a lot for marketing - as we are lacking a bit in actual email addresses! We are slowly addressing this though so may start to use it more in time when we get the numbers. We tend to use more traditional mailings and also text marketing.

I thought I would do a quick vid on this - some people might find it interesting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mazWca_VSM
