Evening guys. Few questions and need a bit of advice.
Weve been wfp now for weeks. We have a 750 litre set up bought from K Systems. We like it too. 40/40 RO, Sureflow pumps, Gardiner CLX27 poles with Aquadaptors.
water round here is around 160ppm and we check the pure water every day with tds to ensure it's 000, which it always is. Our Sureflow pumps are set at 25.
We start at the top of the frame giving it a really good scrub with the brush and also concentrating on the vents which as we all know are full of years of muck. So we spend extra time on these turning the brush around to get right in the vents to clear the crap out. After a rinse we then move on to the glass giving it a really good clean in all the corners removing any cobwebs, dirt and the brushes getting right into the corners too. After cleaning the glass we give it a really good rinse, ensuring that we get sheeting with the water. Finally we obviously rinse the sil.
These are all first wfp cleans by the way.
the problem we are having quite a lot is when the windows dry they iether have spotting near the top of the glass or they have a trickle of dirty water from the vents which has dried dirty.
Weve been telling customers that although its not ideal they will have to bear with us for 2 or 3 cleans for us to remove everything from their vents and muck off the glass. Everyone's been fine its just a bit frustrating.
We always make sure we show anyone who complains that we have pure water by getting them to get a glass of their tap water and then tds comparing it with our pure water.
So my question to you experts in the field of wfp is.....
Are we doing anything wrong ?

Clean the vent the 1st time then stay away from it after and just lightly pass over it each clean.
If you didnt clean the vents you wouldnt have the trouble.
But like me you do and 2nd clean should be fine if you stay away from it,lightly pass it meaning quick wipe over with brush to get dust of the top.
Should be fine 2nd clean on in my experience. ;)

Are we doing anything wrong ?
In my opinion, only one thing.
We do everything you do, then, once we've finished the clean we go back to the first window and start again, doing glass only. In winter, we'll give it five minutes before going back to the start.
The purpose is to let any runs do their worst then go back and clean off the dirty water they have brought with them.
It might sound like it'll add a lot of time, but it's glass only and quite quick.
Try it - it'll transform your first cleans.

thanks for the advice guys

Ditto. It's impossible to do a first clean in one pass. Some do, but their work must be crap and then they have the cheek to charge more for a first clean. The frames and vents must stop dripping before the final glass rinse. Dirty water is still coming out of the vents and off the top of the openers. Do your own windows, get a ladder out and run your finger along the top of the openers, I guarantee you'll still be picking up dirt.

One thing - I think apart from that you're doing it the right way.
In future, a quick skim across the top vents won't release any runs, so you won't be stuck in the position of not being able to clean top frames.

same as others have said what your doing is fine but you really need to go back round and just do the glass again on first cleans.

When everyone cleans the vents what's the norm, turn your brush round and scrub inside as best you can and then blast inside to get as much dirt out as you can ???
-
On first cleans I never have the flow on full cleaning the vents.
I clean the top of the frame either side of the vent, then turn the flow off, and sweep across the vent several times using just the dampness of the brush to clean the vent.
Squirting water directly into the vent is a no no in my opinion as it can drip dirty water for ages afterwards.

Not having vents in my own house I don't know much about them, presuming they let air in dose this not mean by blasting water inside them they will then leak inside the house ???
-
Yes, too much water and they'll leak inside.
I don't switch the water off for vents, I'm just quite brisk with them. Less brisk on the first clean but that's not to say I'm scrubbing them.

So its just best to go across the tops without rinsing, and then be careful underneath without getting water inside them .

Try giving the frames and especially the vents a good dry brush down with a cobweb brush first. One of these (on a pole)

It'll save a lot of wet cleaning.
