HOW MUCH DO YOU ENJOY WINDOW CLEANING
is it enjoyable or do you do it as a case of having too
ive been cleaning windows for 15 years & i like it. where
else do you get the freedom of window cleaning.
if like me you are self employed then you dont have to answer to anybody ;D as long as you keep your customers happy & stick to your scheduel its cool 8)
if you worked in a normal 9-5 job you cant go home early
if youre not up for it. ok sometimes we have to put up with dodgy weather but its nice in the summer 8) my brother drives a black cab & he moans all the time about
the traffic & the passengers . give me window cleaning any time
ps; the money isnt bad too 8) ;D :D

HOW MUCH DO YOU ENJOY WINDOW CLEANING
Twenty years on and I still love it. Apart from being a personal trainer, what other job would pay you for keeping fit?
-
Terry Where does your brother drive a cab?
-
CENTRAL LONDON :(
-
I love my job as I get to look at my reflection all day long. ;D
-
Its great in the summer getting paid to get a tan , not so good in the winter 8)
-
Absolutely!
17 winters at it. Some days could see it far enough, but mostly a great job for keeping you fit(ish), being in the great outdoors, and being able to listen to TMS in the summer without interruption :-[
I have a lot of customers who work in offices all day, and you'd think they were going to JAIL! ;D
As for not being answerable to anyone... Only the wife!!!

28 years still in it ;D
-
me to, been going 15 years and looking forward to many more to come. :)
-
At the moment I hate it working all week and not getting paid for it. "Can you come back next week" As most people on my round aren't in when I do the windows I have to collect. All my customers know I collect Thurs Fri Sat at tea time and don't answer the door.
I love the job itself but am seriously thinking of selling up :(:(:(
-
4 months into it and i can't see why i did not get into it years ago ::) Going back around 8 years back i put it to her indoors i was thinking of starting window cleaning to which she replied don't be so "bleeping" stupid!! Now I've done it i can't imagine ever working for someone again! ;D

I've had a few businesses - Valeting, Handyman, courier owner driver. I've just moved into window cleaning and can honestly say it beats the others hands down.
Valeting - almost everyone wants it about 50% cheaper, it's hard to get repeat/regular custom, so you're stuck to a lot of one off unpredictable work, and 30 minutes of rain can cancel a 3 hour £60 job. It's dirty work, insurances are more expensive and more things I could mention.....
Handyman - you get a lot of people expecting a weeks work at the price of 2, and again regular custom is rare as most are one off tasks/repairs etc. So the wage is unpredictable.
Courier owner driver - wages have been driven so low that a full weeks work will earn minimum wage, without accounting for the mileage and depreciation of the van.
I know window cleaning has it's downsides, like a lot of things, but common sense sees you through most of it.
Few of us take time to remember how lucky we are. Imagine working 12 hour shifts in a dark warehouse with a few 10 minute breaks and a set 30 minute dinner....

some good points.Tell me if the advantage thing worked, is this how you came to us?

This thread is five years old? Did someone go out to make a cup of coffee and just got back?

I have ripped my ligaments in my shoulder and i've got bad tennis elbow. All the w/c, but I wouldnt change it.

4 months in and I love it. Had a lot of stress with getting started, but that aside I LOVE IT !!!
Wish I had done this 18months before when I first thought about becoming a window cleaner
-
I like it sometimes but to be honest it is a business that brings in the money...many times I dislike the lonelyness of it...and then at times I really do like it...I like it alot today as the accountant just brought my end of year books around with a note saying that the Tax office are giving me an additional 2k (euro's) back... ;D ;D
