Title: How much?
Post by: nextline cleaning on December 19, 2005, 11:19:24 pm
Hi can anyone give me an idea how much i should charge a client (per hour) for general cleaning. So far i have a contract with them for HWE cleaning but they have asked for a quote on cleaning communal areas in a block of flats once a week. I have not done any general cleaning as part of my business so far and dont want to over/under charge. My client is a large estate managment company.

Thanks in advance.

At Last....a question I know something about!!!

Until recently, I ran a cleaning business.  I finished it because I wanted too.  It was not through losing work or anything.   2 businesses was more that I could cope with.

Anyways, 1 of my contracts was to clean communal areas.

These blocks were 3 floors of communal hallways, landings & stairs.

To clean all interior glass & windows, skirtings, kickboards, sweep & mop floors, metal handrails & walls reachable from floor level.  No access to electricity so all done by basic hand tools (which meant insurance was cheaper) and no ladders!

I charged £55 per block.

As for time, for example...We did 3 blocks on a monday which took us 2 hours (2 people)
2 of these 3 blocks were awful.  Poop & wee all over, needles, crack tins, etc.
Make sure your hepatitis jabs are up to date & use a litter picker & long reach pan & brush for sweeping up.  I had a close call when using a normal pan & brush......needle was hidden in rubbish & came millimetres from puncturing my skin. Rapid change to long reach followed.
  TAKE CARE!
