Title: Limestone sealing problem

A building company has laid some black limestone tiles on a new build in a kitchen. After 2 coats of  Lithofin stain stop MN there are some strange grey markings appeared. (see pic). Anyone come across this problem before. Not going to see job till next week and they want me to strip one tile and re-seal it.

If you don't mind me asking how are you going to strip a premium impregnating sealer out of what is normally a fairly porous stone?

  Kevin, haven't seen the job or know anything about what products they used. Had a five minute conversation today over the phone. That's why i'm looking for advice on here. If it's going to be too much hassle then i'll walk away from it.

Find out what colour adhesive was used, white or grey. was it dot @ dabbed (layed onto spots of adhesive rather than a solid bed. As it could be adhesive under the tile causing the marks. These will dry out in time, but really need photo's to take a look. When was the floor laid?

Need some different shots with a couple of closeups if possible!¬  It looks like porcelain to me unless it's just a crap photo

Yes it does look like Porcelain to me. where the flash from the camera has caught the surface gives it away.

The only other explanation is it is plastered with so much excess sealer

Was talking to lithofin tech.servs on Thursday about a slate floor supposedly treated with stainstop that isn't performing particularly well.

I laid a slate floor about 8 months ago and sealed it with lithofin as this is what the customer wanted. Gave it three coats and i would not take any more sealer. Customer phoned me about a month ago for it to be cleaned as not happy with it.She wanted me to use lothofin again!!  Gave it another three coats but as you say not brilliant on slate. Be back in a few months to re do it.

The problem is whatever you strip it with it will not get it all out so really you don't have any choice but to re use the original sealer
