Hi chaps,
Been asked by a customer to have a look at his kitchen floor which is slate. He said first of all that it had never been sealed, but after I tried cleaning it with a neutral detergent and a rotary (which made no difference) he said he seemed to remember the tiles were pre-sealed before being laid.
Almost the whole floor has gone very white, he blames this on the people who laid the floor, an when they grouted, they didnt come clean the grout residue away. As mentioned, I went over it with a rotary and neutral detergent, then rinsed it using my TM and wand.
I stupidly left my stone cleaning acid at home, but before I go back there to try again (its almost an hours drive!) - is going over it with some QMT (Prochem) diluted likely to get rid of this residue?
I've attached pics (which actually make it look a little bit worse than it is).
Appreciate any help.

Your going to meed some Aquamix Phosphoric Acid cleaner to remove that grout residue.

Thanks for the reply, Where can I source that from? Just googled it and it says Aquamix no longer available in the UK, is it a matter of searching to find a company with stock left?

If the grout used was polymer modified(Flexible Grout) you may need to use some sort of solvent to break down the polymers in the grout prior to using a diluted phosphoric acid wash. You would have to do a test area to be sure so my method would be
Apply Aqua Mix Sealing & Coating Remover and allow to dwell.
Then apply Aqua Mix Phosphoric Acid Substitute to the mix and scrub
Then vac up
Rinse and Vac again
Apply Aqua Mix Enrich N Seal to leave the slate with an enhanced look

Thank you Kevin.
What do you recommend for applying the Enrich & Seal?
Also, any chance of you sending me the details of your training courses?

I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't like to turn up to any job with equipment that the customer could've purchased themselves down the road.
Thank you anyway :)

Hi Ash
i think your thoughts are right but also customer can get aqua mix or polishing powder from klindex including a host of other stuff on ebay from tiling logistics online shop open to the public
so not much difference really it may be better to just take off label so they do not know what you are using if you want to be different ...

I never let customers see what cleaners & sealers i am using...I have them in colour coded bottles so only i know what they are. Why do they need to know as they have called you out to sort the problem out. If they ask what im using, i just say they are they best cleaners & sealers for the job. They dont ask again.. ;D
-
Yes, but at least the stuff from a specialist store is just that - not something they might see on a shelf in B&Q while they're out shopping for a new lawn mower.
If I took the labels off my chemicals, I would give myself roughly 30 seconds before I forgot what was in there, or dilution rates etc while on the job ;D
