Asked 3 or 4 times before , but not to my knowledge been answered ......
Im looking to change to RO ........ what i would like to know is ......any of you that run RO .
Tap TDS
RO water TDS
RO waste water TDS
System used.
Im interested in recirculating waste back to RO to reduce waste water as im on a meter , all input and results would be of great help ... even if you dont use the waste yourself .
My tap TDS is 125 so in am caught bang in the middle of the RO-DI divide if you see what i mean .
All help appreciated .
Thanks Rich

I wouldnt bother recycling your waste Rich the TDS is going to far too high after being through the RO for the first time that it will kill the membranes in no time at all by having to deal with the higher TDS a second time round
-
if your on a meter you can claim against your tax
go for an ro-man set up to start, cheap simple and waste efficient
booster pumps make them even more efficient and quicker
recirculating the waste is ping in the wind imo,but some do it
-
Merlin 720 ro
130 tds in
60 psi booster pump
17-30 tds out
160 tds waste out
1-2 litres per minute product output
3:1 - 5:1 Rejection Ratio Waste to Product
Now abandoned RO and gone to DI only
-
i use ro for 2 years now ,tap reading 129 for two years but with the ionics 5 system my water goes in 129, on inline tds meter goes in 000 ,comes out 000. feel i dont really need ro,if i was on the water meter ,i would dump ro.
-
ment to say local firm uses pure they tried to recycle waste water ,but gave up there was a build up of somthing caused some probs :)
-
Use. A 200gpd peter hewitt pumped ro Tds in 345 out 39 played about with flow restrictors & now get 1:1 waste to good probably puting little to much pressure on membranes but am on meter so happy to go down this route

WOW, u guys have got some nice soft water. My TDS out of the tap is between 450-500ppm. I have to change RO and DI resin fairly often :'(
Looking at developing another kind of filtration for pure water. Keep and eye on our site for new products

if i was getting a reading like this i would use rain water ;D

you want to be looking at a pumped hf5 4040, running at 60:40 waste to pure.
output tds will be around 001 or 002ppm so very little resin use.
-
i would have thought that if your tap tds is 125 you should have an ro.it will save you on resin.
my tap tds is 400 or so ,and the ro brings it down to 25 or there abouts.

Id agree with this, think youd be mad to be di only with a tds of 125,

Tap TDS
RO water TDS
RO waste water TDS
System used.
TDS 100ppm
RO water 5ppm
never measured the waste ppm
HF5
same system on different location
TDS 150ppm
RO water 20 ppm
never measured the waste
HF5
both pumped with the same pump.

The onlt effective way to recirculate your waste is to send it through a second RO membrane. You would do well to consider a twin RO setup.
-
Thanks for all your knowledge so far peeps , some good snippits in there so far .
I wonder about the twin RO setup , how does this work , does the waste from the first RO go to the feed of the second RO at the output pressure , or does this too need to be pumped ?
Feel like a newb again ROs have never been needed for me !
Keep the info comming guys , Rich

Thats exactly how you set it up when you want to reduce waste water. The one pump feeding the main inlet usually suffices.

Rich give it a couple of months and the tds down here will be low again!! for DI only
Got to change my resin again tomorrow once I have cleaned that dam wheel!!!
Or speak to varitech they should know??

SAJMONDO !
Where you been sweetheart ?
I know the tds will drop again , to that orrible 65ppm !
Just lookin to save the pennies when it counts mate , resin isnt getting cheaper niether is the water , have you ever asked a northerner what they pay for a cubic metre of H2O ?
Less than us southern softies mate i tell you.
Need a hand on the wheel in the morn mate , not like im doin M&S , HMV, NATIONWIDE , WATERSTONES, PETS AT HOME , TESCO, MATALAN , COMET , RIVER ISLAND , HSBC , LLOYDS , COOP, FOCUS , did i get em all !!! ;D
