We have sent these out to any of our clients who had previously bought the grey/red barbed connectors that we had been selling with our premium reels. One or two clients had experienced sudden failure of the grey and red fittings (snapping in half) which meant a lot of water pumping out on the floor when they were used on the inside of the hose reel - not brilliant.
Because of this we have taken the decision to dump all 4000 of the grey/red connectors we had in stock as we feel they cannot be completely trusted and we are replacing them free of charge to all clients who have had them - even if they hadn't had a problem.
If any clients have bought the grey/red connectors from us and haven't received a free replacement then please contact us and once we have verified your purchase we will send a replacement out to you.
The new fittings have the benefit of also fitting our slimline Minibore hose.

Nice customer service Alex

Will these fit onto 8mm john guest hose aswell.

I have not tried this yet, but it should fit. You would need to soften the hose end in boiling water for about 10-20 seconds before sliding over the internal barb.
-
Ive just put together a second static system the whole system is john guest except for the connection that comes out the softner which is a split on/off connecter (waste/filter) so thought maybe this would be a cheaper option then having to get alternative john guest parts.

I bought something similar from Varitech years ago.

When i 1st got wfp, i made one of these for use with conny roofs.
Just pushed some microbore through some inch hose, jubilee clipped it and put a hozelock on 1 end and easy snap on the other.
Or am i missing something and is something else entirely??

That's what I've always done. Usually it's ok, sometimes it leaks and sometimes it pulls out. If it's the inside hose reel reducer from hoze lock to microbore it's a pain as you have to unreel 100m of hose to get to it. This is the answer to those problems. The ultimate answer would be a micorbore hozelock system. Just wait another few years for someone to invent that......
