Title: Lines, smears
Post by: Mark Betts on January 07, 2004, 03:27:24 am
Hi

I dont clean many windows, just a few for my carpet cleaning clients.

When using my squeegee lately i am noticing it is "missing" the edges aboput 1cm from frame!! Leaving watermarks etc.

Also there are noticable lines !!

As i said i dont do many windows mable only a handful a week.

Is it down to practice or do i need a harder rubber.

The one i have is a soft one.

How long do these last??

Thanks

Mark

Mark
Soft rubber should would be a good choice as it tends to mould to the glass better, however they don't last that long and will quickly show signs of wear.
My advice is replace the rubber making sure that the ends are cut square and neat with no burrs.
That should solve your problem.
Hope this helps

Yep, it's definately a worn rubber. This happens when the ends wear out and leave a little behind. You need to change your rubber more often.

Hi Mark,

It`s probably the rubber but check that the squeegee channel isn`t bent at the end. It happened to me once (on a gate) and it took me ages before I realised. I was changing the rubber to no avail then noticed the channel splayed out slightly at one end.
