I put many of my prices up in April, one fussy old codger was not at all happy. His job had been 10 quid for 5 years so I put it to 11.
My guy came back and said he only gave me a tenner and refused to pay the increase.
So I called the night before we were due to clean last month, I spoke to his wife who said "I understand you putting it up and dont have a problem but hang on I need to speak to my husband"
She came back on after 2 mins and said "sorry we will call you back" in other words he said no!
Guess who just called to be put back in the round after getting 2 quotes but "did not like the guys"
I was sooooo tempted to say no but agreed as I cant wait to see him. with a huge smug grin on my face. ;D

I've been putting £1 on most jobs too. One cancellation so far but it would have been a lowish price even with the extra £1. The only bit that irritates is that it's in a run of 6 so I will have to put kit away and get it out again otherwise I would need to run the hose across their garden. The extra cost would have been £8 a year so as they are cancelling due to the increase, it probably would have happened soon anyway. However, I have to think of the wider benefit to my business. The extra turnover will just about pay for my recent extra business costs plus a tiny bit over. The job I lost would have gone to £11.50 and if it was a new job, it would be £14/£15.

Or maybe more! The quotes he had must've been more than what you were charging, and you could've explained that your price increase took into consideration that he was a long term customer; therefore you were showing him some customer loyalty.
However, since he's now a 'new customer', he gets charged at the new going rate and not the old discounted rate.
I would've!

i never go back, rather would find a fresh-un , change of scenery and all that
really get his goat by saying "youve lost your place, but can put you on the waiting list if you like sir "
