I purchased this on e-bay and paid £250.000.
The seller said it was in Los Angeles and i could rent it out 50 weeks of the year.
Then it arrived in the post! >:(

No sorry Andy mate, cant help you, as E-bay wont help you. Have you ever tried contacting them for help.
They are as bad as Paypal when helps needed.
As long as they take their commision....then they put 2 fingers up. :'(
Rant over :)

You should be covered by the "Sale Of Goods Act" Andy. You have a right to reject the goods and demand your money back. It's not "fit for purpose" as it doesn't have the pump you were expecting so tell whoever you bought it from to either compensate you for the cost of a pump or that you want all your money back on return of goods to him.
I think you have to make contact with him within 7 days. Check with Citizens Advice Bureau.

just had arugent with ebay they cud do nothing
-
Forget Ebay, it's up to you if you want to take it further but if you do Citizens Advice will give you the information on what you have to do. I know it's a hassle but this mug thinks he's had you over.

Contact him and give him the opportunity to sort it out or threaten him with a "Civil Action" (small claims court). To be honest it's not worth your while over the price of a pump to take him to the small claims court but the threat might be enough to get what you want. If he doesn't want to play ball at least give him sh** feedback on ebay.
-
just done that and i brought the tank off him on the out side of ebay he took it off and i payed
-
So what did you expect eBay to do then? Why did you have an argument with them when you didn't even buy it on eBay?
-
i dunno just fort id try as i still had item number of what i had brought
-
Sorry mate, you went outside of ebay guidelines. If youd stayed within them youd have a leg to stand on, however you dont unfortuanly.
How could you have case open on him if you didnt buy it on ebay?
-
i would never buy window cleaning equipment on ebay.
i buy all my gear brand new.
just write it off mate annoying as it is and next time pay a bit more and get new equipment from the suppliers
best wishes

I seen a couple of systems on there the other day and was tempted to bid.. glad i didnt know ::)
Sorry to hear that tho mate
-
some people never learn. :o :o :o :o

I disagree, ebay is great just gotta be careful, buying things outside of ebay you dont have a comeback, if you recieve an item not as described you report it and ok its not the fastest of procedures but something gets sorted one way or other.
-
pay by credit card on everything then pay it all off when bill comes in your always insured against fraud and cos going bust etc etc
how did you pay
also ive got a bike pump for sale it will fit your tank £2500 to you and thats cheap cash only please ill send you my po box number
-
If you paid by paypal you can raise a dispute not if for purpose/not as described.
remote selling gives you 28 days to return the item for any reason whatsoever. but weather you get your money back
is another thing.

Lesson learnt, you should not of done a private deal.. You can't moan about ebay as you and the seller were the bad ones doing the deal out of the ebay system. So in the end it has nothing to do with ebay as the transaction was not done through them, ebay would not of got any fees for this, so how can you moan at them.
Ebay charge fees for a reason, to make money, yes, but also its an insurance if there is a dodgy deal committed on their system, and you get refunded.

well ive now spoken to police he has 28 days to contact me and come to a arrangement other wise the person get done for fraud
-
nothing will happen you kill someone these days you get a holiday to benidorm to help reabilitate and remove all thoes nasty thoughts your having
hell be sent on a management course or something it ll only end up costing you in time and money
-
You don't actually state if you have made contact with the seller and allowed him the chance to put it right.
Seems to me that you have however spent some time and effort contacting everyone else.
You were greedy and thought you had bagged a bargain outside ebay. Learn a lesson from it.
It's cost you more in time than a new pump already, to say nothing of your obvious anger issues.
Move on.

Don't be daft. You will say there was no pump, he will say he sent it and you must be pulling a fast one. The police will do nothing at all.

Once you close a case it's closed, even if you had stayed within ebay.
I had a similar thing happen to me, I bought a samsung mobile phone, when it failed to arrive I started a dispute. After another week went by the phone finally arrived and I closed the case, it was only later that I found out that the phone had been blocked as stolen. I could do nothing about it because I had closed the case.

Sorry matey, but sounds like ya might av to put it down to experience 8)
Dont let it happen again ;)
Take care
Justin ;)
